Murder by death.
ulicknormanowen19 February 2023
In spite of famous French names (Maigret,Poirot) , these sleuths are Belgian .France has none, unless gentleman cambrioleur Arsene Lupin ,who often investigates, counts.

So when famous captain Richard arrives in a castle his broke noble owners have turned into a hotel, the guests are in awe of this French sleuth and decides to put him to the test ;they throw a murder party ,and he'll have to find the culprit in one hour; of course the murder party goes wrong when the would be victim becomes a dead body .And the so called cop is so afraid he wants to leave the desirable mansion and to let the guests face it on their own. One has never seen a sleuth so fearful,so ludicrous...

This first part is appealing, and one expects a good comedy ,but promises remain on hold. Little by little, the movie loses steam and becomes repetitive ,ponderous and boring in the long run ; the whodunit is devoid of interest and the plot is eventually poor ,using hackneyed tricks such as the sleepwalkers .
