Not to be mistaken for Julien Duvivier's eponymous silent movie (1928).

A cock and bull story which begins in a boarding-school where the students ,who are twenty to thirty-something are treated as teenagers ;they have to take an exam in Paris and the headmaster and the bossy headmistress insist 74% of the candidates should pass .It includes a stodgy opera (Fredegonde and Brunehault") which the noisy students spoil, the theory of probability and mathematician D'Alembert 's winning formula,a love rivalry between Paul (Paul Misraki ,later famous as Edith Piaf's composer)and Jimmy (Jimmy Gaillard who had been acting since he was 7),tap-dance on a railroad track ,a false manager (and a true one) ,you name it...

It is only a pretext to show to advantage Ray Ventura and his orchestra ("Les Collégiens"):it's of course a musical, and they perform some of their hits such as "Tiens Tiens Tiens" or "Ah!Vivement Dimanche".
