LUDOVIC: THE SNOW GIFT is not a film intended for older audiences. I assume after watching it that it's more for the pre-school crowd. Older kids would probably not appreciate the sweetness of this lovely stop-motion animated film from the Canadian Film Board.
Despite the fact that stop-motion isn't exactly a new technique and the mouths of the characters aren't even animated, this is NOT to say that this isn't a beautiful film technically. The sets are lovely, the voice of Ludovic very sweet and child-like and the music is just great--making the world of young Ludovic the bear seem magical.
It's winter and Ludovic wants to go tobogganing with the older kids but his mother won't let him. Fortunately, he finds a stuffed doll outside and actually ends up having a wonderful time using him imagination.
Sweet and perfect for youngsters, I can't wait to see the next film in this series!
