A strongly dramatic picture of a supposed episode in the history of Persia that occurred over 2,000 years ago. Of the passion and intrigue little need be said. They seem common to all courts, no matter what age of the world, but there is an element of instruction in this film, since it shows the costumes and in some degree the manners of that period, and to that extent at least is to be commended. So far as the king's infatuation for another man's wife goes, a good many kings have had the same, and this is not especially new. The film is strong dramatically and will appeal to many people for that reason. - The Moving Picture World, December 31, 1909
