Michael Bay is one of today's most recognizable filmmakers, known for his ability to deliver truly high-octane, spectacular movies with stunning production values. His films are always full of memorable action sequences, expert editing and cinematography, and coupled with big budgets, almost every movie Bay directs becomes a smash hit. This is especially true of the incredibly popular sci-fi franchise based on the Hasbro toy line, Transformers.
Although, after the release of the first film, the next four installments received increasingly negative reviews from critics, it was never about the visual effects. Moreover, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction became some of the highest grossing films of all time, making over $1 billion globally.
These movies also featured enormous budgets, which today only Disney can boast when producing the (often ill-fated) projects for the MCU, but this did not prevent a 'controversy' surrounding the direction of Michael Bay.

The films vying for the 2024 Best Sound Oscar are “The Creator,” “Maestro,” “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” “Oppenheimer,” and “The Zone of Interest.” Our current odds indicate that “Oppenheimer” (31/10) will prevail, followed in order of likelihood by “The Zone of Interest” (37/10), “Maestro” (9/2), “Mission: Impossible” (9/2), and “The Creator” (9/2).
This year’s Best Sound award will be the fourth handed out since the former Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing categories were consolidated ahead of the 93rd Oscars. The 17 craftspeople involved in this race have collectively amassed 70 previous nominations and 16 wins for their audio work, with the largest share of those bids (30%) belonging to Kevin O’Connell (“Oppenheimer”). With an Oscars resume dating back to 1984, he stands as one of this lineup’s nine returning champions, having memorably broken his unprecedented losing streak on his 21st bid for “Hacksaw Ridge” (2017).

The next film to be directed by Ben Affleck, the crime thriller Animals, could be about to star Jennifer Garner as well as Matt Damon.
Having released the Nike-makes-a-shoe drama Air last year, Ben Affleck is set to embark on his next directing project. He’s busy setting up Animals, a crime drama in which Matt Damon will star as a mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Garner is in talks to play Damon’s wife in the film. As previously reported, the otherwise undisclosed plot will contain plenty of intrigue – and perhaps a bit of violence: “Surrounded by plenty of enemies, political and otherwise, the husband and wife have no choice but to get their hands dirty in order to save their son,” is how THR describes it.
Over his career as a director, Affleck has tended to gravitate to crime thrillers of one sort or another.

On October 23, 1941, "Dumbo" soared into audience members' hearts. With his wide, bright blue eyes and floppy ears as big as his whole body, he quickly stood out as one of the cutest Disney characters ever. Sadly, the playful baby elephant is mocked by others, referred to as "Dumbo" instead of Jumbo Jr., and ridiculed for his oversized ears which give him the ability to fly. In the book "The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney," author Michael Barrier notes that the Walt Disney movies "Pinocchio" and "Fantasia" failed at the box office because World War II disrupted the European markets. A successful film was crucial for the studio's continued survival.
Working with a small budget, the filmmakers came up with what Bosley Crowther of The New York Times called "the most genial, the most endearing, the most completely precious cartoon feature film ever to emerge from the magical brushes of Walt Disney's wonder-working artists.

“We were conscious of setting up the universe,” reveals Ben Snow about “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.” For our recent webchat he adds, “We had a lot of illustrations from decades of ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ lore, but we also had the freedom to make something that was unique to our project. ” He says an example of this was “the giant red dragon. It was something that played homage to the ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ characters but is special to the film.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Dungeons and Dragons” is the 2023 blockbuster Paramount film based on the popular table-top role playing game of the same name. The fantasy adventure comedy follows the affable thief Edgin (Chris Pine) on a quest to retrieve a lost relic and be reunited with his daughter. Snow explains, “It’s transportive in terms of showing you another world. It’s a chocolate box stuffed with all sorts of treats.

In his stand-up set on Saturday Night Live, comedian Nate Bargatze made clear that he doesn’t fit in with how some things are done in 2023.
“The world is so future now. And I feel in the way of it,” the Tennessee native said in his debut as SNL guest host. Hotels, he explained, are “futuristic.”
“I remember when you’d take a shower, the shower’s enclosed. But now a lot of hotels have half a glass, and water gets on the floor. And that’s the future,” he joked.

Josh Hartnett, once a teen sensation with films like The Virgin Suicides and Pearl Harbor under his belt, is making waves again. This time, he’s collaborating with acclaimed director M. Night Shyamalan. They’re currently working on a project in Canada, a film that’s been intriguingly described as a “psychological thriller set at a concert.”
Interestingly, the film was first titled Trap, but now it’s shooting under the temporary name Good Grades. While the final title remains a mystery, the anticipation is building. Shyamalan is not just directing; he’s also wearing the producer’s hat and funding the entire venture. It’s a bold move, especially since they’re filming amidst an ongoing actors’ strike. But Shyamalan, known for his dedication, has secured an agreement from SAG-AFTRA to proceed.

Director Tobe Hooper's 1974 low-budget feature "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" is not just loved by those who embrace the horror genre; it's one of the most cherished examples of truly independent cinema ever produced. Made for just tens of thousands of dollars, Hooper's film birthed a horror legend for the ages in Leatherface, as well as a franchise that is actually still going to this day. That franchise would hit its apex in 2003 with a gritty, bigger-budget remake of Hooper's iconic classic.
Oddly enough, it was "Armageddon" and "Bad Boys" director Michael Bay who got the ball rolling on "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" remake, a movie that might have seemed like sacrilege for those who cherished the original. But...

Since Marvel Studios officially announced the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot movie that’ll introduce Marvel’s first family into the MCU, so much stuff has happened, but we are still pretty much in the fog. The movie was announced in December 2020, and in those almost three years, the only official pieces of information we have about the movie are its director and the release date.
While many rumors about the cast have circulated the internet over the past few months, there’s still no official cast announcement, and now we know it won’t even be made for a while, given the circumstances with strikes in Hollywood. The ‘WandaVision’ director, Matt Shakman, took over the project after the initially announced director, Jon Watts, walked out of the project, and Josh Friedman worked on the script before the entire project, as well as its casting process, was put on hold.

Michael Bay was a decade into his film directing career when Steven Spielberg and "Transformers" beckoned. He'd established himself as a maestro of mayhem — or, as we call it now, "Bayhem." He made the $19 million budgeted "Bad Boys" look like a $75 million action extravaganza, and the $75 million budgeted "The Rock" look like one of the most expensive action movies ever made. Had Bay arrived on the scene in the 1980s, he would've been making high-style, ultra-violent shoot-em-ups with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Unfortunately, at the turn of the millennium, four-quadrant tentpole blockbusters were all the rage, which meant Bay had to stifle his R-rated urges and deliver PG-13 spectacle for maximum worldwide grosses. He delivered with "Armageddon," and, to a lesser degree, the distressingly bloodless "Pearl Harbor," which gave him carte blanche to make one of the most morally reprehensible (yet spectacularly entertaining) studio action movies of all time...

Christopher Nolan directed the epic biographical thriller film ‘Oppenheimer’ which is adapted from Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s biography ‘American Prometheus’.

Director Sam Mendes expressed interest in adapting Bird and Sherwin’s biography ‘American Prometheus’ following its publication in 2005.
But during the next fifteen years, the authors grew pessimistic about a film adaptation of their work which caused the project not to be materialized.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has reached the $500M global milestone, on its way to an estimated $551M through Sunday. This would make it the filmmaker’s fifth-highest-grossing film of all time, ahead of Dunkirk. The worldwide total through Friday is $499.3M, meaning that it has already topped the five-century mark today.
Overseas, the Universal title is expected to see an impressive 33% drop in the third frame, adding $51M and reaching an estimated international box office cume through Sunday of $323M, which is 129% above Dunkirk, 169% above Interstellar, 212% above Tenet, and 25% above The Dark Knight Rises at the same point in like-for-like markets.
The Cillian Murphy-starrer is the biggest Nolan film of all-time in 41 markets including the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. It is Nolan’s top non-Batman pic in 55, including Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, Austria, Poland and Malaysia.

Warner Bros. The statement shared to Twitter read, “We consider it extremely regrettable that the official account of the American headquarters for the movie ‘Barbie’ reacted to the social media postings of ‘Barbenheimer’ fans. … We take this situation very seriously. This summer’s highly anticipated film, Oppenheimer, sports an impressive list of cast members. One name on that list that some may not have heard from in a while is Josh Hartnett. Harnett was a rising star in the late 90s and early 2000s, and his name was apt for the time as he was, in fact, a heartthrob that would grace the covers of many magazines. It was his growing fame that actually made the actor want to step back and take a breath. He had been in films like Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down and says he was given offers for action films on the strength of those movies.
One of the films Hartnett made at the peak of his fame was a poorly received action comedy, Hollywood Homicide, which paired him up with Harrison Ford. Ford is beloved but also known for acting like a grump from time to time,...

And, look, here we are."I feel really lucky that he still saw me as somebody he wanted to work with all these years later. I’m a big believer in things working out when they’re supposed to."Josh has also been impressed by how Christopher approaches his work.He shared: "Chris has certain rules: no one’s allowed a cell phone.

When strolling through the Criterion Collection, one can be sure to find the work of many filmmaking auteurs like Hitchcock, Godard, Kurosawa, Fellini, Bergman, Truffaut… and Bay! That’s right, tell your friendly neighborhood cinema snob that Michael Bay has two films in the Criterion Collection and watch their heads explode like…well like a Michael Bay movie.
and one thing is for sure: Michael Bay knows how to blow stuff up real good! Story can often times seem secondary as long as they get the perfect shot…. which often features some of that sweet sweet product placement or that sweet sweet red white and blue. And with his epic fast paced use of movement and scale, Bay has become a genre unto himself, affectionately dubbed Bayhem. But with the Transformer movies in his rearview and an under-performing effort in 2022, its time we figure out just What Happened to Michael Bay!

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner hadn’t done a film together since Affleck’s 2003 feature Daredevil. One of the reasons Garner wasn’t sure about working with her ex-husband was due to his pace as a filmmaker.

Affleck’s career went through heavy turbulence before the Oscar-winner managed to find his footing. Somewhere in the early to mid 2000s, the media turned on Affleck. And Affleck had a difficult time finding the source for all the vitriol that was being thrown his way.

The film is about a terminally ill father who is recently released from prison and struggles to connect with his daughter and grandson. Vertical will release “Prisoner’s Daughter” in theaters on June 30, 2023.
