Warning: Spoilers
A dead body is found in the River Thames.

Investigations indicate that the corpse might be John Branston, a wine merchant.

His sister Agnes reported John Branston missing some days earlier. His wife Julia and also his business partner allege that John Branston is away on business abroad.

In fact Julia confirms that the dead man is not her husband.

Superintendent Duggan investigates. Some custom made shoes takes him to Granada. The shoes belong to a man called Rodrigues, a well respected wine grower who has been missing for several weeks.

It turns out that Branston and Rodrigues were the same man who lived a double life in each country.

For some reason this instalment of Scotland Yard was rather pedestrian. The business partner and Julia were suspicious right from the beginning.

Also I was surprised that Branston's dental records were not consulted. In other editions of Scotland Yard they are the first port of call.
