*gulp* I worked on it.

My first job out of art school was on WolfRockTV - the whole crew knew it was bad, but what could we do - we were hungry! The best thing we learned though that summer was that if we wanted to escape the lameness, we were going to have to work really hard to get a job at a different studio. I have to say, though, that it was a time when there were very few opportunities for artists just starting out in the business. I met people at that studio that I still see around the studios 20 years later! We were all just beginners. It was a non-union shop, too, and there were strikers outside the building for awhile trying to get everyone to join or quit. This was the summer of 1984.

Warning: Spoilers
How do I describe how ridiculous this show was? An animated Wolfman Jack and three teens, hip, funky and break-dancing all the way.

So cool! But that wasn't all! Oh, no! We had a break-dancing PARROT as well! In sneakers! Come to the Honey-Comb hideout! I'm not even sure if there was ever a plot or what it might have been.

This cartoon and Kidd Video (with Brady Bunch cousin Oliver, Robbie Rist, as the drummer) were two Saturday morning answers to video programs.

Kidd Video was on NBC. Wolfrock was on ABC.

Kidd Video actually held on a wee bit longer than Wolfrock, which didn't find an audience at all.

Both shows would inexplicably suddenly have an actual video clip of some music video turn up in the cartoon; Bruce Springsteen, Shiela E, Culture Club, Lionel Richie.

Whoever, it didn't matter. Then back to the cartoon.

I think Wolfman Jack offered some trivia about the musical artists at some time or other, maybe during the video.

Again, both cartoons were all but set up so that as the decades passed, then the video clips could have been updated with Eminem or Mariah Carey! Didn't happen.

so long ago.

Best to be forgotten.

wolfrock. Rock to the beat.
