Familiar.

I have no idea why this film is called "Bob Kick, L'enfant Terrible". Who was Bob Kick? And, is there something special about this name? I am really curious, as I've found nothing on the internet to help me understand this.

This short film from Georges Méliès consists of what is supposed to be a bratty child (it's actually the middle-aged director himself) getting his comeuppance when all sorts of magical things happen in his room...such as heads appearing and disappearing and, ultimately, Bob disappearing at the end.

The techniques used in this film are pretty much the same ones Georges Méliès used in most of his films...so it's very familiar. For its day, it was quite good but if you're going to show anyone one of his films today, try to find one with more originality and plot.

aka Bob Kick, L'infant terrible

Melies plays a young kid who is quite the brat. This kid is in his room playing when a skull suddenly appears on his table. After destroying the skull the kid thinks that everything is going to be okay but soon after a man with a skull face shows up. This is a pretty interesting film from Melies as he actually does a good job playing the kid and delivers some very funny sequences including one with a hula hoop. The highlight of the film is without question the kid trying to destroy the skull, which leads to one of Melies nice magic tricks. The horror elements of a person being haunted by a skull wasn't anything new for Melies but he uses it to good causes here.
