"I can approach trees with joy and pleasure but I approach a man with caution"

"Canada Vignettes: Trees" is a simple, but effective short animation.

While the animation is merely decent (But well done, portraying with a captivating minimalism how a single tree is going under seasonal changes) it is the excellent narration done by Michael Kane was makes this a very enjoyable experience, despite being incredibly brief.

The little reflections included here were profound and beautiful.

After seeing how arrogant and cruel humans could be sometimes, I guess that is easier to trust something which remains true to its own nature.

Like a tree, for example.

As tiny as it is lovely, to me this is really one of the best Canada Vignettes. Warning: Spoilers
OK, so I don't care for the first part of the eloquently-spoken monologue very much. I guess a lumberjack would have to place himself in such a mindset but hating trees? What nonsense! They are very precious things, they represent nature, and peace, and freedom, and they help give life to us all! When I look at the majesty of a weeping willow swaying in the summer sun all I see is love baby!!! Whenever I see a forest wilderness that has a carpet of pretty bluebells, it looks so heavenly that I always wanna go lay down in the flowers and stare up at the blue sky through the canopy... They're very soothing and are always a comforting sight to me. It is kind of an odd quick parable that this short presents, as people aren't trees, but there's something very profound and compelling about the brief narration that makes it seem quite meaningful for what it is, and there is something in the stoic nature and simple beauty of trees that does lend itself to poetry and these kinds of grand metaphors. They stand like silent sentinels that watch over entire lifetimes...the kinds of tales they could tell if they could but speak! This is getting a wee bit nutty so I'm wrapping it up now, but for a short that's just a minute long it does give you something to ponder on, so that must be a good thing.. Despite the awfully quick running time, it's a very worthwhile and thoughtful short animation. I will now make like a tree and...depart! x
