It might be of interest to note that the title "Earth and Water" is a phrase that has roots in Greek history. It comes from Ancient times, more specifically from the wars against Persia, as accounted by the Ancient Greek historian Herodotus. What was meant by "earth and water" was that the conquered Greeks would have to completely surrender themselves (give up everything, both "earth and water") to their Persian conquerors. So the title of the movie hearkens to that Ancient history and represents the notion of complete submission to a conqueror. And in the case of this film it is the unconditional surrender to history's greatest conqueror of all, Love.

A terrible movie.

This is one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. There is no discernible plot. I am Greek and speak and understand the language fluently. My culture would allow me to understand if there were any Greek traditions or meaning to the story line. There was none. The direction of the movie... well, there was none. I doubt there was a script. Perhaps a plot line was the basis for filming. I think the director just pointed his cameras and had his actors says whatever came to their minds from the notes they may have been given on 3x5 cards. The editing process was atrocious. Scenes were thrown together helter-skelter with no apparent continuity.
