Sex & Nudity

  • When in Beguile form, Kain can speak to a few lady townsfolk in the various towns he comes across. A few of them will come on to Kain in a sensually suggestive way ("The nights can get very cold around here, stranger...I can help you get through it."
  • A few towns Kain visits have brothels.

Violence & Gore

  • Kain fights his various human and monstrous foes with a variety of medieval weapons including swords, a mace and a pair of axes. After a number of strikes humans will be left in a stunned state (signified by a splattering of blood), in which Kain can either feed from them (telekinetically extracting their blood) or kill them with a final strike (though the Mace will not kill certain enemies). The death sequences are bloody and graphic.
  • Some items, weapons and spells Kain can use on his enemies will either cause complete immolation, implosion into explosion or complete dismemberment, each of which is rather gruesome.
  • Specific scenes will show numerous corpses impaled or on the ground (the plague-ridden Coorhagen town, the conquered town of Stahlburg and the battleground between the Army of the Last Hope and the Army of the Nemesis being the best examples).
  • Blood fountains can be visited and fed from. Before feeding the blood is seen pure and red.

Profanity

  • Mild cursing; "hell" and "damn" are the worst offenders.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Many towns have taverns.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entirety of the game, and the whole series, is based on a dark, gothic horror scheme where you play as a vampire killing numerous human and monstrous foes. The dark scheme of the land of Nosgoth (especially at night) and the music play into the creepy vibe the game contains.
