Delightfully disturbing in a deliciously sick way.

Warning: Spoilers
A wife who's obsessed with dolls, a husband who is as clumsy as Gerald Ford, a mixed up picture of a dumb blonde bombshell and misinterpreted photos in the newspaper keep the comic moments coming in this Leon Errol short, but it is one particular moment which stands out here, and that is seeing Errol all of a sudden start to act demented as he prepares to set a huge doll on fire, all of a sudden turning into Tod Slaughter. Yes, this has all the usual misunderstandings which made the Leon Errol shorts all so predictable, but just that one moment alone rises this to be above average, and Errol is hysterical throughout. It is surprising that the censors allowed Errol to burn a doll in front of the camera so outrageously, and he does it with such maniacal humor that you may not believe what you're seeing. Perhaps the censors didn't pay much attention to the shorts, but there are also other innuendos that imply much more than what feature films allowed. Tom Kennedy is featured as the jealous boyfriend of Thelma White, the blonde salesgirl he accuses of "bigotry" (meaning bigamy, even though they are not married), while Carmel Myers is the somewhat overly jealous/possessive wife with just a tad bit of violence inside her. Definitely one of Errol's better shorts, one very worth repeating.

Has Some Very Good Moments Once It Gets Rolling
Snow Leopard9 September 2004
This Leon Errol short takes rather a while to get going, but once it does, it has some very funny moments. The supporting cast helps out with the comedy, and gets some good moments of their own. It ends up being worth the slower stretches towards the beginning.

The story starts with Leon's efforts to buy a birthday present for his wife, which then lead to some home mishaps and office mix-ups, with several other characters involved. The first few minutes are not as amusing, since there is a lot to set up, but the humor builds up nicely after that. Errol's character finds himself in a mess that just keeps getting bigger, and Errol plays the last part well, behaving in an exaggerated but funny manner. The rest of the cast play off his distress well enough to make the whole situation entertaining.
