Since Dyanna Lauren is one of my favorite Adult actresses, I have been sampling her projects as a director, and unfortunately she is not impressive wearing that hat. "Broken Promises" does have a woman's touch, whatever that really means, but is less than involving.
It deals with a philandering guy ably played by Brad Armstrong, just prior to career as a director breaking out to pantheon status. He's improbably unfaithful to live-in mate Jill Kelly.
Soap operatics lead him to fool around with others, and Jill backslides with some hot lesbian action with who else, the divine Janine Lindemulder, and the fans certainly get their money's worth on that score. Director Lauren plays Brad's secretary, and in a fanciful turn of events turns out to be literally playing God, assigning Janine as a Roma Downey styled Guardian Angel who gives him a second chance to make amends after he's run over in a traffic accident. Surefire elements of 'A Christmas Carol" and "It's a Wonderful Life" are worked into the storyline as Brad sees his past life and mistakes en route to a do-over.
There's a happy ending and plenty of sex in the Vivid feature, featuring bareback action, it having been shot before the label got religion and went the Safe Sex route. Janine does a good deed and earns her Angel Wings. Janine and Jill are always a thrill, and Ms. Lauren wraps the whole thing up in just 71 minutes.
