The Pits

This has to be one of the absolute worst episodes of one of my favorite shows of all time. It was a pilot that the "MWC" producers were hoping to spin off into its own series. Thankfully, it failed. And with good reason. Calling this mess "terrible" is a compliment. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It's not even remotely funny, the cast (with the exception of the "MWC" regulars) shows no comic ability at all--Nicole Eggert is especially irritating and embarrassing, overacting outrageously and trying to upstage the rest of the cast, not a particularly difficult task since most of them are even more inept than she is--the writing and direction are on a junior-high-school class play level, and the entire episode starts at the bottom and works its way down.

MWC tried to spin off two episodes into their own shows: the other one was a mess that was almost as bad as this one, about a student radio station at Tremain College, the school that Bud attended; its only saving grace was that it featured Keri Russell, who almost made sitting through it worthwhile. For the sake of everyone involved--especially the viewers--both of these efforts flopped. This is without question the worst of the two. It's a real stinker. Avoid it at all costs.

So sad

This is by far one of the worst episodes ever. It was an insult to Married with Children, an amazing show until it wasn't to try and create spin offs (and horrible ones at tha

Third time not lucky.

This is the third time that Married With Children has been used to introduce a proposed spin-off show, and once again, the result is terrible. Tom is an unfaithful delivery man; Shannon is his equally unfaithful girlfriend. They live in an apartment with Tom's half-sister Maria and work-shy friend Jackson.

When Shannon dumps Tom for seeing other girls, he takes Kelly on a date to a greasy-spoon diner; by coincidence, Shannon goes to the same diner with her new man, millionaire Henry (why, you might ask, didn't he take her to a posh restaurant?). Shannon and Tom try to make each other jealous by acting outrageously with their dates.

Spending time in the company of such horrible characters as Tom and Shannon isn't my idea of fun (even if Shannon is played by Baywatch babe Nicole Eggert). Their toxic relationship makes this one tough to endure -- if the writers were trying to create a Friends style sitcom, they should have made all of the characters likeable: no-one wants to spend their time watching a pair of obnoxious philanderers behaving so amorally.

One Of Their Best Efforts

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite episodes of Married With Children despite the absence of Katy Sagal. There were a lot of good one liners and punchlines. Marcy and Jefferson in the diner were hilarious. Alan Thicke and Jean Speegle Howard were reliably funny as always. I never even realized it was intended as a spin-off. I'm not sure how well it would have done as its own series, but it was a nice little episode as were several of the season 10 shows. It certainly did not disappoint in the least. Some people may take offense that it 'strayed' from the main characters in some sense, but personally it is one of my 10 favorite episodes.

Disappointing
Meow32041 May 2018
As frankfob previously said, this episode was a poor effort by the producers of MWC to (hopefully) create a spinoff series, although in fact there were 3 equally abysmal efforts by them to do so. (The one not mentioned by frankfob 'starred' Matt LeBlanc & Joseph Bologna, and was just as bad as the others). I'm still at a loss to understand why they were so desperate to create another hit show when they already had a perfectly good one on their hands......

Warning: Spoilers
Yet another awful awful pilot episode to stain MWC's awesome legacy. - Oh well, I guess Star Trek had "Assignment; Earth", right? If they had to live through that, Married has to take its bumps too.

I'm not sure what I've done to deserve this episode being inflicted upon me. Maybe in a past life I was Judas or something, but this is one of the worst things I've seen since... ...well, since the last pilot invaded this show.

It's hard to understand the direction they were attempting with this episode. Maybe they were attempting Friends's popularity, but without defined character, all proposed lead roles appear as just deviations of Kelly Bundy.

I would write more about this episode, but I have driven my own face into the desk multiple times to remove it from my mind. The last thing I remember is creating this IMDB account specifically to moan about it.
