Be grateful this never made it to series...

Warning: Spoilers
TOE TAGS is a very poor television movie that was intended to be the pilot episode for a TV show that never took off, thankfully. The most notable thing about it is that future Hollywood star Barry Pepper plays one of the two leads, a pair of ultra-irritating 'slacker' teenagers whose characters are undoubtedly inspired by those in WAYNE'S WORLD and BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. The story sees them getting jobs as morgue attendants and joining up with some detectives to investigate homicides, but the emphasis throughout is on unfunny comedy and the paucity of the budget is all too apparent.

Pretty lame failed TV show pilot

Warning: Spoilers
It's no surprise that this pilot for a possible sitcom about the goofy antics of two doofus 90's Gen X slacker dudes who get jobs working as morgue attendants never got picked up as a series. For starters, while Matthew Hennessey and a then unknown Barry Pepper (sporting short blonde hair!) display an agreeable chemistry as the dim-witted main characters, the dopey behavior of these two guys proves to be more annoying than amusing. Moreover, the various 90's pop culture references haven't dated well at all. Fortunately, Suki Kaiser adds some spark as perky homicide detective Kelso. Kristin Lehman also does well as framed rock star Chana. But overall this stuff proves to be really dumb and silly. An okay diversion at best.

"Face It, You Are Hugely Cerebral!"...

In the made-for-TV movie TOE TAGS, two hopeless imbeciles (Matthew Hennessey and Barry Pepper) get jobs at the coroner's office, due to their total failure as house-sitters.

Their new position -somehow- leads to their stumbling upon a major clue in a murder investigation. This brings in the police, as well as the duo's favorite rock star (Kristin Lehmen). Of course, these morons can't resist looking into the matter themselves.

Idiocy unfolds.

As is obvious, this is BILL AND TED, WAYNE'S WORLD, BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD, and DUMB AND DUMBER, mixed with a TV cop show. The results are fairly painful, and could cause severe hardening of the brain...
