Violence & Gore
- Blood splatters on a cloth pan to a close-up of Lumumba's dead face.
- The bodies of Lumumba and his two companions are dismembered; a man takes a hand-saw to a body part and the sound is quite graphic. The scene is dimly lit but some details are visible.
- Lumumba and his companions are severely beaten while in custody in Katanga. The leader of Katanga, Tshombe, takes a gun from a soldier and beats Lumumba with it.
- Lumumba's companions are put against a tree and shot by firing squad. You do not see the first man's death, but you do see the second. When Lumumba goes up, the tree is covered in blood and gunshot holes. You see Lumumba get shot and fall to the ground.

- The leader of the Army calls the soldiers "pieces of s**t" for disobeying orders.
- A Belgian man is walking his dog and is called an "a**hole" by a group of intoxicated soldiers.

- The men dismembering the bodies are seen drinking while they work
- When Lumumba first arrives in the city, he is selling beer, and some men are discussing which brand of beer is better.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- A man and woman are stopped by soldiers in a check-point. The couple ask why they need to pay a toll, and the woman notices a body behind a car. Her partner is struck in the head by a gun, and she runs into the car, and is screaming. A soldier tries to forcefully remove her from the car while she is screaming and rips her dress off of her as she struggles.
