Swing-bin.

Jazz ,masquerading as "swing" , was during the occupation in WW2 a social phenomenon ,a cultural rebellion against the Nazis in France ; for lack of Americans, the West Indies musicians play a prominent part in this craze.

Richard Pottier's film is insignificant ; the director was able to direct a musical as "fanfare d'amour" (the German remake of which spawned "some like it hot" )bore out , but this time it dies on the vine. The screenplay is hackneyed , dull and derivative .

The generation gap , unca is a classical composer , his young niece is a swing buff , is a cliché ; so is dad , a modern artist in Paris ;the love affair is thoroughly bland ; one can save,at a pinch ,the always reliable Elvire Popesco ,and Raymond Legrand ,a composer in real life.
