This film reminded me a lot of Tarkovsky's early films - though I reckon this guy is even more at ease with a camera. If he doesn't go on to become something bigger then one can only wonder at the wealth of talent the hotbed of avarice that the film industry is oft depicted as may ultimately have squandered down the years. Rarely have I felt so moved by the simplicity and eloquence of something so absolutely bereft of pretension: if ever proof was required that the axioms pertaining to the inherent restrictions of the medium could be so effortlessly transcended, then surely it lies here. Show me 22 minutes of such prescience in a Hollywood film and you can have the shirt off my back. Any chance you get, you have to see this film.
