We are seeing something that has never happened before. Director Ridley Scott and studio executives have decided to remove Kevin Spacey from the movie All The Money In The World, which has already completed shooting. Deadline Hollywood broke the story that actor Christopher Plummer will replace Spacey in the role of J. Paul Getty. It seems like a tall order considering that Scott is determined to keep the film's December 22nd release date. Re-shoots of the key scenes are expected to commence immediately.
The cast and crew of the film, and Sony Pictures, all agreed to re-shoot all of Spacey’s scenes, with Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams. The decision comes after they decided to pull the film from the AFI Festival when sexual assault allegations against Spacey might affect the film that Scott dropped everything to direct. They were also concerned that because so many people worked hard and...

There is a thrilling selection of Chinese-language titles at Filmart this year. Liz Shackleton picks out some of the most promising.
With very few Hong Kong or mainland Chinese sellers making the journey to this year’s European Film Market in Berlin, Filmart offers a chance for buyers to catch up with the Chinese-language titles that will be rolled out in the region for the rest of the year.
After serving up the biggest film of the Chinese New Year holiday — Kung Fu Yoga, starring Jackie Chan and directed by Stanley Tong — China’s Sparkle Roll Media has launched a Hong Kong-based sales arm that is selling Ding Sheng’s reboot of the A Better Tomorrow series.
Other high-profile action titles new to market include Distribution Workshop’s Extraordinary Mission, from the creative teams behind the Infernal Affairs and Overheard series, and Huayi Brothers’ crime drama Explosion, starring Duan Yihong.

Following last summer’s restoration of Swedish auteur Jan Troell’s directorial debut Here is Your Life (1966), Criterion presents the director’s most notable accomplishment from his most prolific period, the one-two punch of The Emigrants (1971) and The New Land (1972). Though technically released as two distinct features, they are more of a conjoined saga detailing the travails of America’s Scandinavian ancestors. Richly attenuated, they’re adapted from the celebrated series of four novels by Vilhelm Moberg, Upon a Good Land, hailed as cornerstones of Swedish literature. Until now, these, along with most of Troell’s 1970s titles, (who is known best for his 2008 masterpiece, Everlasting Moments) have been largely unavailable, a pity considering the level of achievement and a handful of Academy Award nominations (including a Best Picture nod) between both features. It’s difficult to imagine a more authentic depiction of the early immigration experience, narratives which have...

10.07am: That was then, this is now. Day one of Cannes 2012 is so over, drifting off on the breeze of yesterday. We're all about today, day two.
If, like me, you find yesterday is so far away that you've forgotten what happened, here's Charlotte Higgins' summary from last night. And as Cannes is nothing if not about fancy frocks and smirking A-listers, we'll be posting a gallery of the red-carpet show before the festival opener, Moonrise Kingdom. Meanwhile, we'll soon have a video review of the film from Peter, Xan and Catherine.
But let's look forward. The big film today is Rust & Bone, the new one from Jacques Audiard. Now, if anyone is due a Palme d'Or it's him: his awesome A Prophet was unlucky to come up against the terrifyingly brilliant White Ribbon in 2010, and his previous work...

Arnold Schwarzenegger's fast and furious return to the big screen is currently getting underway. The former Governor of California has targeted director Kim Jee-Woon's "The Last Stand" as his first star vehicle since returning to acting, and he won't be alone — he'll have some very notable co-stars joining him for the ride.
Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and "Jackass" host Johnny Knoxville have boarded the cast of "Last Stand," an impressive roster of actors that already includes "Thor" star Jaimie Alexander, "300" villain Rodrigo Santoro and the inimitable Peter Stormare of "Fargo" fame. Also joining the cast is Harry Dean Stanton, perhaps most recently best known for playing the creepy Roman Grant on HBO's "Big Love," but forever in my heart for his ill-fated turn as Brett in Ridley Scott's "Alien."
No specifics on who these new cast members are playing just yet, so we can only speculate for now.

Zack Snyder's Superman Man of Steel has been pushed back to Summer 2013, according to Comingsoon. Warner Bros, Pictures has changed the release date to June 14, 2013 instead of 2012 as was previously reported.
At this time there are no other films scheduled for release on that date, and there will not likely be any others now. I am upset that I have to wait, but would rather have an amazing movie instead of something rushed.
The film was written by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan. The cast includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix. This cast is amazing so let's hope there are no further changes.

The cast and crew of The Amazing Spider-Man may not enjoy having paparazzi and curious bystanders hanging around their New York set, but photojournalist Peter Parker would be proud.
Thanks to some savvy photographers, a slew of new photos from the tail end of Spider-Man's shoot have leaked on the Internet -- "tail" being the optimal word. The pictures give us a first look of Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors, who fans know better as the villainous Lizard, casually walking and talking with Parker (Andrew Garfield) with a few added practical make-up and CG elements. Up until now, we haven't had official confirmation that the reptilian biped with a lab coat was Spidey's nemesis in the rebooted franchise (although we've been hearing the rumor since June 2010), but the new snapshots speak quite clearly to that assumption.

Rage - Midsummer's Eve is American-Finnish female director Tii Ricks's new horror feature, and it'll be set in the harsh environment of the Midnight Sun.
Ricks says her horror film will honor "all the great horror features I have seen in my childhood: Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th are all films that I have grown up with and which I secretly watched way before I was supposed to see them. This film is a tribute to all of those films."
"Originally a pagan holiday," she says of the movie's plot, "Midsummer's Eve is a huge thing especially in the Nordic countries. To add together a Midsummer's Festive with its White Nights when the sun never sets, the spells people do at that time of the year and a group of American, English and Finnish people spending their Midsummer's Eve in one of the most mystical places in the world,...
