While "Schutmannslied" is like many other early sound experimental films, in one way it's unusual...the sound quality is much better and louder. Too many of them today are difficult to enjoy due to degraded sound quality.
The film is very simple...with a singer dressed in German military garb (complete with spiked helmet) singing and dancing a bit in front of a group of similarly attired men. The dance routine is very poorly choreographed and the set features the usual painted backdrop...but at least you can hear it well despite all its deficiencies.
