To a hip-hop soundtrack, this video plays hot moves from street games and college games. Full of big dunks, fantastic cross overs, amazing passes and fake outs galore the focus is not on the action of the NBA but the `how did he do that' aspect of watching street ball.
I generally don't like this type of video as too often I've seen footage of games cobbled together and played more like a music video with more of the rappers being seen than game action. For much of this video that is how it is. When Lil' Bow Wow does his song he is onscreen more than any clips we get. On top of this talking head slots with Sinbad (!) Jay Z and mostly brief segments from reasonable stars. These don't really work because they aren't of interest even Mumms kinda fades fast and doesn't stand out from all the b-ball posturing.
Even the music isn't all as hot as it should be. It has a few real good tracks and only the odd bad ones, but too many are just `ok' and don't compliment the onscreen action. Talking of the onscreen action it is very hot. The dunks all get a bit dull after a while but the stutter dribbles and cross overs are all inspiring! Add to this many really hot fake passes and assists and it makes for a video that is worth the hype on the back of the box.
It may get a bit dull and some of the videos are poor quality home movies of college games but they are all passable quality. One complain I do have is that the clips come so quickly that you don't have time to savour the move and instead feel like you're being rushed but this is minor. No - the interruptions from music videos and rappers talking nonsense is the real downside. `what team do you support' the offscreen voice asks Jay-Z `whoeva winnin' that year' is the answer..pointless!
This is worth getting if you're into basketball and don't mind hip-hop. It isn't the best video on the market and certainly not the most professional but it has some very hot moves that you won't see unless you're able to hang round outdoor courts in New York etc.
