OOTB is good creative fun for kids!
jdmac-225 May 2005
My son has always been particular about what he will watch on TV. He's never been a wiggles fan and won't just sit to watch "just anything". He absolutely LOVES OOTB. I just started Tivo'ing it for him because I remember my niece watching it. Right now it's the only show he watches.

I love the fact that it's fun, yet he learns things from it, especially the "arts and crafts" time. He gets lots of good ideas from the show that he will then use in his own craft projects.

And what child doesn't get totally obsessed with the catchy goodbye song and the "rub/snap/clap" thing toward the end - lol :) Tony and Viv are awesome! LOVE them both!! If only adults (and children for that matter) were as nice, wholesome, friendly, neighborly, etc. as the people in this show. It's a breath of fresh air!

Great show for kids especially!

I remember when Out of the Box played on Playhouse Disney and I loved watching it, I found it so creative and entertaining to watch. But over the years, I haven't been watching the Disney Channel or Playhouse Disney very much, and I don't remember ever seeing this show among the shows airing. If that is so, that is a massive shame, as it was a lot of fun and educational and actually one of my favourites on Playhouse Disney.

The sets and colours are nice and simple, the dialogue is great and easy to understand, the activities were fun especially the arts and crafts(while I was useless at art I took an interest in it), the presenters had personality and energy, the children were always likable and the songs were very nice particularly the opening song and the goodbye song.

In conclusion, this was a great show and I miss it! 10/10 Bethany Cox

Let Imagination Take You All Around
zsofikam23 December 2015
There's so much to love about Out Of The Box, and I do love it. I was a major watcher of Playhouse Disney in my childhood and I even have a CD with songs from all the shows. I received the CD when I was young and now have those songs on my iPod. I loved (and still love) Out Of The Box, Bear In The Big Blue House, The Book Of Pooh, Stanley, Rolie Polie Olie, and PB&J Otter. Every day, a group of preschoolers and their two caregivers Tony and Vivian gather at a clubhouse known as "the box" where they make music, do crafts, and act out stories. The kids are encouraged to use their imaginations. Something I especially love is the theme song, which shows the clubhouse being built and contains the line "let imagination take us all around." This show always managed to get me doing other really cool things. I would often get help to make the crafts featured on the show and whenever my parents or one of my neighbours received something that came in a big box, they would give me the box to play in. I've shown this to the kids I babysit for and now they also enjoy crafting and pretend play. So watch Out Of The Box and let imagination take you all around.

A great show for the "tween" set

.....and for those parents out there who are NOT racists, I'd like to say that OOTB is a great program that shows children around a LOT of diversity. The kids on the show and the adult "hosts" are of many races and ethnicities, and are always seen positively interacting with one another in a very creative (art, music, putting on plays, telling stories, etc) environment. Tony and Viv, the two adult characters, are very friendly and extremely encouraging of the kids and the work they do on the show, and the kids themselves play and share very well. There are nothing but positive examples of personal interaction on this show. Too bad the other poster is too closed-minded to see it! The only negative thing I can say about this show is that it would probably be way over the heads of the little ones watching the other Playhouse Disney shows. OOTB is probably best suited for tweens, between the ages of maybe 6-9.

OOTB is great!

My four year old LOVES these re-runs... I wish I could find more DVD's... We have the Halloween DVD and she watches it a lot. For whoever felt like this show was better for 'tweens, that is simply not so. It is aimed at preschool & kindergarten and is not at all over their heads. The lively music and theatrics catches their attention and by keeping to natural language and activities, doesn't bore them to death.

My daughter adores anything musical and theatrical and this series has been great for her. I would say it has a quality it that more recent productions absolutely lack. And I like the characters, myself, which really helps when she watches it repeatedly... This series was originally from when my older two were younger but they preferred Barney and such. I am glad she doesn't!
