Not a bad short film...

...but it did look as if the filmmaker rushed to finish. Great scenery, wonderfully shot and some great action on the ice. Obviously great care was taken with the production. The story is a bit confused and the ending seemed added on as an afterthought. Odd soundtrack, too. But an interesting film nonetheless.

are you kidding me? maybe it was cause i watched it in uncomfortable movie seat at three in the morning during a fifteen hour horror movie marathon but this movie was useless. it was even outdone by the horrible "Bad Seed" film I saw before it. Avoid this movie at all costs. The only scary thing about this movie is that the monster lurking in the woods looks like the jackelope from America's Funniest Home Videos.

Windigo = Doo Doo

Warning: Spoilers
This is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. Despite some claims to the contrary there is never any suspense or horror at any point in this movie. The story was bland, slow to develop, and lacked any direction. Also, when you make a crappy horror film and then stick in some nudity to jazz it up a little bit that nudity is supposed to be from hot girls, not some knock-off Kevin Sorbo pumping his butt in the air. Gross. seriously, I mean come on. It's sad when the best actor in the movie is Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle. And the plot, what was up with that? It's like somebody in Canada watched Deliverance and then decided, "Hey we can do that here but wait! Let's add in a corny looking stick monster for no apparent reason." The shots of the monster are mostly just a few twigs taped on the edges of the lens with a fog machine going off behind the camera while it's moving forward. Here's a hint, if you don't have the budget and/or creativity to make a monster movie then don't. Just awful...

It does not get any worse than this!!

I had the displeasure of sitting through this unwatchable movie. The story line was at best questionable, badly written and directed by someone who was clearly in charge of all aforementioned. The one-dimensional focus on an Indian folklore was like the next Bigfoot in snowy territory. Although there are a few nice nature scenes, I can rent National Geographic for scenery. This is supposedly a mystery, but intrigue went on vacation when this film was made. It looks like the director obsessed over the scenery of the movie and completely overlooked the fact that a good story was an integral part of a movie. The acting was at best mediocre due to lack of direction or talent and it's a waste of time to watch something as painfully awful as this. Sorry.

The Windego is just plain awful!

Awful movie. Like a D-movie slasher without blood or a tinge of excitement. A new career is in order for the director/writer, definitely. Sad but true. As a student film it is possible, only remotely possible that it could pass as an okay amateurish effort with little else in the making. Maybe there is a minuscule talent in shooting a nice shot, but it sure goes to hell very fast. Talentless, boring and a waste of time! And whoever was singing its praises in the previous review needs to reduce their dosage by half. Thank God, I didn't have to pay to see this piece of garbage! What's up with the monster. Gosh, I could dress my kid better at Halloween.

The Windego is great!

I loved this film and thought it was filmed beautifully and directed well. I thought it was fantastic! I mean it's a horror film, and I would own it and have it in my collection along side, Darkness, Directed by Jaume Balagueró, the ring, the shining, the grudge, Texas chainsaw (the original), the others, Twin Peaks series and film, dead alive, basket case I & II, and many others that I cant think of at the moment. My brother rented Windego not knowing a thing about it, and we were both very pleasantly surprised. It is a film that builds suspense in a way that is really refreshing and stays very close to real life, the supernatural stuff in the movie is great as well, and its not like basket case or early Peter Jackson (which I love as well), but is more like Darkness in which it does not go so far out there, it is compact and what can I say? I just liked this film and had to write at least 10 lines, so there you have, it: contrary to other comments that I've read about the film, I thought it was quite good and definitely worth renting.
