Pretty Darn Good For Its Kind
brunor7811 November 2002
Flicks about zombies are my favorites in the horror genre, so naturally I had been looking for this hard to find gem,I was really excited to find it last week on DVD at a Planet Video. The first 20 minutes or so are for character development as we meet 4 teenagers and a couple who stop at a creepy looking house, there we are introduced to a nice lady, who by the end of the night turns out to be a nasty bitch who kills one of the men, after that all hell breaks loose as the dead rise from their graves. Reportedly shot for only 175,000, it is pretty darn good, the fighting scenes are well coordinated, the cast is good, when someone dies there's plenty of gore, and although there's no actual nudity, plenty of things are half exposed as the younger cast does half the movie in practically no clothing, most of the scenes in the woods are filled with suspense (especially because everything's so quiet, you know something can jump out of nowhere at any moment). The end is especially good as the ones left alive fight to death against the evil bitch. The DVD also has about 10 minutes of bloopers and an interview with the director discussing all the things she did in order to have the movie done. Over all, I give this flick *** out of ****

Badly acted

Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to like this movie. It has enough gory violence, plenty of skin and nice atmosphere. What killed it for me was the acting. The one good actress is wasted in a nothing role. The female cast is super hot, but once any of them speaks, it makes you wonder how these women got their parts. For the ladies there is a full frontal shot of the main guy. I suppose in this kind of flick acting is expected to be bad, but come on, what a waste of film. Gorehounds will be pleased, there are plenty of dismemberment and close ups of splashing blood. There was only one good scene towards the end, when two of the three girls get eaten by the zombies. I know this is a hard one to find, and most reviewers liked it better than I did, watch at your own risk.

Pretty Darn Good For Its Kind.

Warning: Spoilers
I had been looking for this flick for the past several months and found it on dvd at my local world video, seems its very hard to find so I'm glad I did. Anyway, what can I say about this great low budget zombie flick? Well, its pretty darn good. POSSIBLE SPOILERS! The first 20 minutes are for character development as we meet four college students whose car just broke down in the middle of nowhere, then we meet a couple who are in the honeymoon and pick the students up, soon it gets dark and they all agree to stop at some old bed and breakfast, there they meet this nice lady and before you know it someone gets killed and all hell breaks loose as the nice lady turns out to be real nasty nice. I won't spoil what happens next, I'll just say that once the first 20 minutes pass, the violence starts, which is quite graphic in its depiction of each gory death. Also, there's no actual nudity (except for a guy's ass running out of the shower), but a lot of things are half exposed most of the time. The house is creepy, the woods wayyyy toooo creepy, there's some suspense, lots of blood flowing, nice fighting scenes, the zombies are ok, the cast is talented. I read in this site that the budget was only 175,000, and it shows, but hey, I'm not critisizing. Overall I give this flick a well deserved 9.
