One of the finest cartoons I have ever seen.

It comes as a great surprise to me that this cartoon has seen so little attention from the media. It's original, and to my knowledge only, airing was on Toonami around 2001 on Cartoon Network. The series lasted 24 episodes and it was an exciting action series that changed my perspective on the genre at that time.

The story was what really gripped me, the animations actually reminding me of Asterix and Obelix classic cartoons. Some of the other visuals on other hand, like a handful of dedicated 3D sequences, were of considerably high budget for those times.

The series lasted for a very short time, which rather annoyed me since it left a plethora of unanswered questions that make me scratch my head to this day. What few episodes aired were enthralling. The characters were well written, the soundtrack was amazing, and the overall story quite amazing, especially considering that modern cartoons, no matter how action-oriented they might seem, have a ridiculous number of corny lines and jokes stuffed into them (especially the anime's... ugh).

Perhaps my only criticism (apart from the character animations) would be for the voice acting, but I only saw the English dubbed version, so it's not France's fault there.

In conclusion, this series has been an iconic one for animated action series for me, setting a standard that very few have managed to meet. (Edited on December 2nd 2008, originally June 2006)

Chris Colorado

The story is set in the far future after a meteoroid has struck Earth. Parts of the world are uninhabitable, so most of the action takes place in Chitchen Itza, one of the major cities on Earth. Agents of the terror "Group 666" fight the world federation under Grand Commander Richard Jullian. The Series lasted 26 episodes and it was shown on TV in Romania,UK,Poland and Quebec. DVD copies of the episodes are almost impossible to find because it's very low release rate.Only the first DVD with the first Four episodes was released in France and it won't be shown too soon on TV.The episodes aren't available on the Net,so the only solution is those who recorded the episodes on videotapes. If you have the episodes please post a torrent.

pure win

Warning: Spoilers
This series is pure win.

It's so well made, and the plot so goodly thought out, that in most cases is far better than most "serious" as in "non-anime" TV series, you would almost not allow your little kids to actually watch this.

As stated in some other reviews, this series is no longer broad casted and the DVD have been sold out in small numbers, however, if you can find this on trackers, or somewhere else, maybe even get the real DVDs if you are lucky, it is definitely worth watching.

The action takes place in the future, after a big meteor hit earth and destroyed most of the human civilization. after a long war with "group 666" the World Confederacy under Richard Julian is trying to maintain peace, permanently threatened by group's 666 attempts to take over world's domination.a young man, Chris Colorado, is trying to dig out the truth about his family's troubled past

Dialog is very solid, something you would usually not expect from an anime series. so is the music, which actually sends boredom away from the watchers.

If you get the chance to see these, don't miss it.

Possibly, after Batman beyond, the best premise, world and atmosphere of any cartoon
bob_Sapp3311 February 2019
I did not really like it when I watched as a kid, nor did I dislike it. One thing is for sure though, I always found it intriguing and full of mystique. Anyway, now, as a grown up, i find this series fascinating, despite the fact that the cinematography is all over the place, almost remicient from the crazy fast paced spider-man TAS. This and batman beyond are, in my opinion, the cartoons with the biggest potential. They more than deserve a remake, even more so than samurai jack did. Toonami was really something else back in the day with shows like these. Only if this how had better cinematography...

Chris Colorado takes place on an apocalyptic future Earth. After a data-processing bug prevents mankind from detecting the fall of a meteorite, it results in the destruction of nearly all life on Earth in a massive disaster later known as The Great Crash. After some time, many groups of survivors gathered together to try to rebuild and create a newer, more peaceful society, and formed "The World Federation". After several decades of peace, a mysterious dictator called Thanatos, a human wearing a helmet to conceal his face, with an army of humans converted into cyborgs called Thanors, started The Mega War, which ended with Thanatos taking control of Europe. However one group, "The Centurions of Freedom", led by Commander Richard Julian, succeeded in striking back and defeating Thanatos, who seemed to take refuge in what remained of Glorious City (Earth's first world capital, now mostly destroyed by the meteorite) where a strange black liquid from the meteorite, now called "Dark Torrent" by the Centurions, enabled him to recruit a new army of Thanors out of the survivors still living in the ruins of the city and start a constant skirmish-war against the World Federation.

The story begins with a former soldier named Captain Chris Colorado, a sporting, intelligent and world-weary soldier, who is recruited by World Federation Commander Richard Julian, who proceeds to reveal to Chris that he is the son of William-Erwin Krantz, a famous member of the Centurions of Freedom charged to infiltrate Thanatos's army and gather information but went missing and presumed to have defected to the enemy. This had left many, including Chris himself, to despise him as a traitor. Though initially reluctant, Chris accepts the job as Julian's primary secret agent in the war against Thanatos because of his need to search for the truth. This will involve Chris in increasingly dangerous adventures where various meetings with mysterious individuals will reveal the truth to him about his father, his family and the shocking secret behind The Great Crash itself.
