Welcome back to "The Week in Horror," HitFix's ongoing series that rounds up the 10 most pertinent fright-genre stories to break over the last seven days. In this week's edition: America's favorite (second favorite?) masked slasher may be coming to network television, lots of changes are happening over at "American Horror Story" and two '90s/early '00s superstars have teamed up with one of the genre's most exciting new auteurs for a "dystopian cannibal love story." See below for the full roundup. 1. Jason Voorhees is coming to...the CW? Franchise creator Sean S. Cunningham told fans at the Monster Mania convention in New Jersey over the weekend that the netlet is interested in picking up a "Friday the 13th" TV series, which would take a "Scream"-esque "meta" approach by centering on the (fictional) small town that inspired the iconic slasher series. According to reports, both the fictional movie...

The days of a movie franchise merely spawning an endless stream of big screen sequels, prequels, side-quels, and other quirky spinoff varietals is long gone. In the case of Friday The 13th, the kitschy ’80s slasher, it’s not only slated for another theatrical feature but a small screen version is also in the pipeline.
Announced last April, the TV series is under the care of franchise creator Sean Cunningham. Cunningham’s ambitious goals for the show are to re-imagine the series’ flagship villain Jason Voorhees across many time periods. Lucky for him, one of two writers attached – Bill Basso – worked on the Terminator series, albeit as a special effects guru on T2. So, how might that temporal narrative device be explored on the show? Simple. It’s going meta.
Cunningham recently put it an appearance at the Monster Mania convention in New Jersey, at which he offered an update on the show.

Anyone who has attended a comic or anime convention is all too familiar with cosplayers. Whether you're the person muttering "nerd" under your breath, or the one excitedly snapping photos of all the awesome designs, you can't miss those dedicated costumed fans. Did you know that cosplay is popular among horror fans, too? We naturally love dressing up anyway (Halloween!), so it makes total sense. More and more elaborate costumes are popping up at horror conventions everywhere these days. Here are some of the creepiest, coolest, most creative horror cosplays I have come across: There is everything from the uncomfortably sexy.... In less than a year now, a new Friday the 13th film is expected to hit theaters on March 13, 2015. We've heard nothing of a writer. Nothing about a director, but something is coming, apparently, and the industry rumblings we have heard is that the producers involved - Platinum Dunes - are looking to do a "found footage" approach. There are a few conventions taking place this weekend, including Monster Mania. That's where Shock reader "Pizowell" informed us of the following:

This past weekend at the Monster Mania convention in Cherry Hill, NJ, Lisa and Louise Burns - aka the Grady twins from The Shining - made their first ever convention appearance. It’s been 34 years since Stanley Kubrick unleashed The Shining on audiences and horror has never quite been the same. The Grady twins are an indelible part of that legacy and have contributed to countless pop culture references, artwork and cosplay. But hey, let’s be real, meeting the ladies who made “Come play with us, Danny” a part of our vernacular is a priceless commodity in and of itself.
Personally, I only had a brief few moments with the twins at Monster Mania, but they were sweet and if I can say, precious. They are quite petite, and I don’t think I’d be out of line to say I don’t think they’re much taller...
