NEW YORK -- Comedy Central is looking to expand Denis Leary's shorts. Lauren Corrao, senior vp original programming and head of development at Comedy Central, has groomed a new series from a batch of 30-second animated interstitials dubbed House Arrest that Leary's Apostle Pictures recently produced for the network. The evolution of House Arrest from shorts to series exemplifies the nontraditional approach Comedy Central has taken to development in the 10 months since Corrao joined the channel as senior vp original programming, based in Los Angeles. A former MTV and Fox Broadcasting Co. development executive, Corrao came to Comedy Central after working with scribe Peter Tolan as his producing partner on such projects as ABC's The Job and Wednesday 9:30 (8:30 Central).
