A great story idea
This short animated film was sponsored by the National Film Board of Canada and I like it more than many of their other, more "artsy" films. This isn't to say this is a film that is more commercially-oriented--it just has a lighter art style and is a bit more approachable in style than many of their films.
MAILLE MAILLE has no words but consists of two old ladies sitting and knitting. And, as they knit, the work they do reminds them of their lives. It's a nice nostalgic piece, though at the end I must admit that it all gets a bit weird--though I also think the concept was so good it would make for an interesting longer length film, as five minutes just seemed too short to do the stories justice.
