The "Jackass" franchise is a wild ride that started with a late-night MTV series but has become a full-fledged force of nature in its own right, and a crucial part of that magnificent maelstrom is Steve-o, born Steven Glover. It's almost impossible to define the charismatic performer — he's one part circus clown, one part stuntman, one part comedian, and his unique brand of entertaining helps make this franchise what it is. He has done some disgusting and terrifying things in the name of making all of us laugh, and in his new unrated multimedia comedy special, "Steve-o's Bucket List," he's allegedly going even wilder than he did on "Jackass," which should really be something. But what about the "Jackass" franchise? Is there a film that he feels is the pinnacle, or do they just continue to improve upon the previous incarnation?

Jackass star Steve-o continues to outdo himself and this time he was in London performing a stunt that ended up getting him detained by local authorities. The television personality jumped off the Tower Bridge promoting a comedy special and detailed what happened.
“I was detained by police after doing this jump off the Tower Of London Bridge yesterday, but they were totally cool, and understood that I’m just super excited to be taping my Third (and craziest by far) comedy special on Friday, July 14 in London (where I was born!),” Steve-o shared on Instagram.
Steve-o called the day “epic” that allegedly saw him getting interrogated by police.

The Jackass series debuted on MTV in 2000, quickly becoming one of the most popular television shows. It followed the antics of a group of friends as they engaged in outrageous stunts, pranks, and dangerous physical challenges. The show cast included Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Dave England, Preston Lacy, and Ryan Dunn.
Despite parental and political worries about the show’s potential impact on younger viewers, it quickly skyrocketed in popularity. After three seasons of wading through constant censorship notes from MTV, Knoxville and his pals decided to end their run; thus began, Jackass’ successful transition to the silver screen era.
The Jackass franchise spawned several movies that were released between 2002 and 2022, in the following order:
All the Jackass Movies in Order of Release Date Jackass The Movie (2002) Jackass Number Two (2006) Jackass 2.5 (2007) Jackass Presents Mat Hoffman’s Tribute to Evel Knievel (2008) Jackass 3D (2010) Jackass 3.5 (2011) Jackass Presents...

Comedy occupies a pretty fascinating space within the movie world. Sure, comedies have been a part of mainstream cinema pretty much from the very start, dating back to some of the silent era's biggest stars like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. But comedy isn't as easy to churn out as something like horror. Just about anyone can make a horror movie with a little bit of money and some people willing to get blood on their clothes. Good horror is another conversation entirely but even the worst of the worst horror films can gain cult status. Comedy, however, requires a bit more.
With that having been said, it is always pretty remarkable when everything comes together and a comedy manages to break...

There’s “staying in your comfort zone,” and then there’s Ray Romano making his directorial debut with a movie in which he plays a beleaguered outer-borough New York father who tries to look on the bright side of life and survive the slings and arrows that bond his large Italian-American family together even as they threaten to tear it apart. On paper, the leap from “Jackass” the TV show to “Jackass: The Movie” might have been a greater creative gamble than the one from “Everybody Loves Raymond” to “Somewhere in Queens,” which essentially finds its everyman superstar at the center of a 106-minute sitcom.
And yet, the film’s length isn’t the only reason why “Somewhere in Queens” avoids the stale whiff of syndication. Liberated from the bumper lanes that are built into the sitcom format — from the oppressiveness of canned laughter, throwaway B-plots, and the steady drumbeat...

When we think of Pride Month, we think of elaborate parades, all-night raves in Bushwick lofts, and extremely well-dressed people drinking mimosas on the street at 11 a.m. We also think of merch, specifically the grand tradition of corporate Pride merch: companies trying to cash in on LGBTQ Pride regardless of whether they actually support LGBTQ rights in general by rolling out rainbow themed T-shirts and yass kween mugs.
Most of large corporations’ efforts to cash in on Pride fall somewhere in between gently cringe and actively offensive. Every year,...

After a rare week when no Sony Pictures VOD release ranked #1 on any of the charts, the studio leads on all three. “Morbius” (19.99) topped Vudu, which favors higher-priced PVODs with ranking by revenue, while “Uncharted” (5.99), took #1 at the volume-driven iTunes and Google Play.
The “Spider-Man” offshoot (and second sequel to “Venom”) was lackluster in theaters compared to expectations (it did 73 million domestic/163 million worldwide). But with an 80 million production cost, it still has a shot of making a profit from post-theatrical returns.
Of note is that again Sony, despite the quick burnout of “Morbius” in theaters, went with a 45 days+ window. That is less of a wait than “Uncharted” or “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (5.99). Their patience has had its awards. Not only is “Uncharted” sustaining a long and elevated run, “No Way” also remains on the chart more than two months after its initial home release.

After almost three absurdly long years, “Stranger Things” Season 4 is just around the corner. A tentpole series for Netflix — at a whopping production cost of reportedly 30 million per episode — the fan-favorite sci-fi show that launched its young adult cast, led by Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, into superstardom will be dropping new episodes May 27.
And, according to the Emmy-winning series’ executive producer Shawn Levy, it’s going to be “harrowing,” “cinematic” and “epic.” He told TheWrap in a recent interview, “This is so much more story and runtime than ever before, not by a little. By a lot.”
The last month of spring will also see the return of reality series titles like “The Circle” — a social media-driven competition series where players catfish, befriend and flirt with each other with the aim of winning a grand cash prize — and “Bling Empire” — which centers on a group of uber-wealthy Asian American friends in Beverly Hills.

However, the crew of stuntmen pranksters made their glorious return earlier this year alongside new additions to the roster for “Jackass Forever.” Many assumed the introduction of fresh-faced newbies was a sign that a series was eventually going to go forward and it looks like that is indeed the case.

Paramount Global on Tuesday reported first-quarter results missed Wall Street expectations on sluggish broadcast advertising and theatrical declines, despite a sharp increase in streaming subscribers for Paramount+.
The entertainment giant that runs CBS, Viacom and the Paramount film studios reported revenue dipped 1 to 7.33 million during the quarter, compared with 7.41 million last year. The company said much of the decline was because last year’s first quarter included broadcasting the Super Bowl, a television event that fetches massive ad sales.
But further, Paramount also reported revenue declines across all three of its major business lines –broadcast advertising, filmed entertainment and distribution. This pushed profit lower to 433 million compared to 911 million last year. On an adjusted basis, the company delivered earnings per share of 60 cents, narrowly beating Wall Street projections 51 cents.

If you haven’t already experienced the cinematic joy of seeing Everything Everywhere All at Once with an audience yet, you’re missing out. This creative powerhouse is adding back IMAX theaters this week and may become A24’s biggest box office hit to date. Anyone who believes Hollywood doesn’t bring original content to our screens anymore owes it to themselves to see this as soon as possible. Just in case you weren’t convinced by the critical raves and audience support, here are a few reasons this film needs to be seen on the big screen.
Daniels’ (writer/director duo Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) latest film is a visual feast, incredibly made for just 25 million and a tiny vfx team. As it pairs elements of action with comedy and family drama, the action sequences dazzle with varying tones, ranging from images you might see in a Scott Pilgrim vs.

As the undisputed king of streaming (for now at least), Netflix has enjoyed the presence of some major blockbusters. Now, with its list of new releases for May 2022, Netflix is bringing back one of its biggest ever hits.
Stranger Things season 4 “volume one” is set to premiere on May 27. It’s been a long wait for new episodes of this ’80s-tinged sci-fi/horror series and based on the trailers, the wait will have been well worth it. In this go-around, the kids of Hawkins (now high schoolers) will have to contend with the Upside Down once again to go along with the horrors of the Creel House.
While Stranger Things is the biggest Netflix original this month, it’s far from the only one. Mike Myers’ latest series The Pentaverate premieres on May 5 (fittingly: 5/5). Meanwhile The Lincoln Lawyer is set to arrive on May 13 followed by Love, Death & Robots Volume...

The tagline for Jackass Forever reads, “Some people never learn.” Thank goodness for that, because if they did, we wouldn’t have had this fourth instalment in the series, twelve years after Jackass 3D. You might have thought that Johnny Knoxville and the rest of the Jackass crew were getting a bit too old to be performing painful, stupid and life-endangering stunts of this magnitude, but oh no – they’re back and they’re as willing to seriously injure themselves for our entertainment as they ever were.
You essentially already know if you’re going to like Jackass Forever, because it’s exactly the same as the previous Jackass movies, in a good way. Throughout the film, Knoxville and the gang – including Steve-o, Chris Pontius,...

Earlier this year we saw Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Preston Lacy, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Ehren McGhehey, and other new “Jackass” members return for the fourth installment, “Jackass Forever.” With every film installment, there is plenty of extra footage or various comedic bits that don’t make the theatrical cut, and there is normally a lot of good stuff left on the cutting room floor that ends up being put into a follow-up feature-length project.

Bam Margera Drops Lawsuit Against Paramount, Johnny Knoxville & Others Over ‘Jackass’ Axing — Update
Updated, 8 Am: Jackass co-creator Bam Margera has dropped his lawsuit over his firing from the franchise’s Jackass Forever film. In court documents filed Wednesday, April 13 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Margera asks a judge that his case, alleging that he was wrongly fired by Paramount Pictures, be dismissed “with prejudice,” which means it cannot be re-filed. The court papers do not reveal whether Margera reached a settlement or why he decided to drop the case. Also named in the suit were MTV, Jeffrey Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, Dickhouse Entertainment, Gorilla Flicks, among others. Margera had sought millions of dollars in damages.

Lawyers for former “Jackass” star Bam Margera have dropped the skateboarder’s lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and “Jackass” creators Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze over his dismissal from the recent film “Jackass Forever.”
In a filing sent Thursday to the Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by TheWrap, Margera’s attorney Dennis S. Ellis filed a request for the lawsuit to be dismissed with prejudice, meaning that it cannot be filed again. It was not indicated whether a settlement with the defendants has been reached. TheWrap has reached out to Ellis’ office for comment.
In the lawsuit, Margera claimed that he had been “coerced” by Jonze and Knoxville into signing an agreement requiring him to submit to multiple alcohol and drug tests in order to be a part of “Jackass Forever,” and that he was fired from the project in August 2020 so that Paramount and the film’s...

What initially starts as a light-hearted look at YouTube star David Dobrik and his “Vlog Squad” evolves into a portrait that doesn’t quite know what to make of him and his enablers. The question of enablers is a fascinating one: an often symbiotic, sometimes parasitic relationship between co-hosts, fans, content creators, and businesses writing big checks. In happier times, Dobrik was known for his raw personal video blogs that merged into something like Jackass, involving dangerous and somewhat complex stunts without the supervision of lawyers as fellow YouTuber, actor Josh Peck, points out. With his “basic” (also Josh Peck’s words) personality, Dobrik acquired a rabid fanbase of pre-teens, teens, and college students. They like him—even more when he has the capability to instantly grant one young woman’s wish with $15,000, courtesy a dating app that paints itself as the feminist alternative to a well-known hookup service.

More than 20 years ago, MTV debuted a little show late at night featuring a collection of gnarly dudes doing stupid stunts and pranking one another. That series, "Jackass," went on to be a global phenomenon, so far spawning four theatrically released films, the spin-off films of "Bad Grandpa," a handful of straight-to-video sequels, several spin-off shows including "Wildboyz," "Viva la Bam," and "Homewrecker," and more. The antics of a group of skateboarders and professional knuckleheads became an indelible part of pop culture. The road has been hard, and it has been long, but the cast members of "Jackass" have plenty of...

Throughout the history of pop culture, there have been a number of venerable comedy troupes to grace the big and small screen. From classics like the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges to imports like Monty Python and Kids in the Hall, to more modern groups like The Tenderloins (who may be better known as the "Impractical Jokers") and The Lonely Island, these groups have made legions of fans laugh out loud. Even the crew from "Jackass" have carved out a nice place for themselves in this category over the past two decades. But we mustn't forget about Broken Lizard.

Pete (Tom Stourton) hasn’t seen his university mates in years. Ten years to be exact. It happens. Life happens. We reach adulthood, mature, and set goals for ourselves that the people who were closest to us during that formidable period simply cannot follow—their own ambitions lie upon different forks in the road. So resentment shouldn’t factor in. Nor should jealousy. Yet Pete can’t help wondering about both. A little voice in the back of his head wonders if a decade was too long to pretend things could pick up where they left off. Amidst the ongoing battle for eyeballs between the litany of big streaming platforms, a fight we have called the “Streaming Wars” in past blog entries, several new and persistent entities have emerged. Paramount+, formerly CBS All Access, is making a concerted push for a good chunk of the market, having yanked some of its biggest properties (most notably Star Trek shows) as free streaming options available on other streamers.
The newly revamped Paramount+ emerged on March 4th, 2021 to considerable fanfare. During its first year of life on the streaming stage, Paramount+ was able to capture plenty of consumer interest. By the conclusion of 2021, 3 of all JustWatch users were on the prowl for the services of Paramount+.
Our friends at JustWatch have sent us a fascinating appraisal of the most-searched titles available on the nascent streaming platform during its first year of life amidst the big boys like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

It is the quiet before the bat storm, and as we are one week out from the latest reboot of the Batman franchise, no big studio thought it wise to go wide with any of their titles. The top five is identical to last weekend, and the second weekend holdovers Uncharted and Dog both held on strong with less than 50 drops. The only fully wide new release was the Foo Fighters’ horror/comedy Studio 666 from Open Road, but with just 1.5 million it fell short of the top five, and the other notable newcomer, United Artists’ Cyrano, was right behind it with 1.4 million from 797 theaters.
As expected, Sony’s adventure film Uncharted took the top spot with ease in its second weekend, grossing an additional 23.3 million, roughly 10 of that coming from IMAX. With a 47 drop, the video game adaptation held stronger in its second week than any of 2021’s 50+ million...

A staple of the comedy genre has forever been watching people get hurt, and nowhere is this more evident than in the continuing legacy of the “Jackass” franchise.
What started as a MTV reality series in which various jackasses performed increasingly stupid stunts for the benefit of the cameras before them eventually evolved into a four-film movie franchise spanning two entire decades.
“Jackass: The Movie” was released in theaters in 2002 and was intended to be the conclusion to “Jackass” – a feature film capper after a three-season run on TV. But after grossing nearly $80 million on a budget of just $5 million, “Jackass” the movie franchise was born.
Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-o, Chris Pontius and many, many more continued to make fools of themselves for the camera in three additional feature films released across the next 20 years.

Ready to get kicked in the face by an annoyed donkey?
This is the question that many “Jackass” stars have faced over the years, first on the beloved MTV prank show and then in the series of increasingly ridiculous (and weirdly endearing) movies.
