Absolute garbage.

Who says you can't make a film with under 10 grand? I do. This isn't a film, this barely qualifies as a movie. The dialog isn't the worst, albeit clichéd. The concept itself is so uninspired and typical, I'm surprised it got the green light. I know the screenwriters have heart and can write something better than this, but they chose to follow an easy concept instead of taking a risk. The directing and producing's pretty bad. You don't have to see the movie, just look at the stills! Horrible marketing job.

It's so sad to see the producer's lackeys going around the internet promoting Never Among Friends. Why do you care? You weren't paid! The producer hates you. It's a bit amateur and childish, what these people are doing, if you ask me.

An amazing display of talent and hard work for $7,000

I must say that I am very impressed by the movie and how great it looked. I attended the premiere in Red Bank last month and I really did enjoy every aspect of the film. They did a great job with it and I hope to own it on DVD eventually.

Great film! Marvelous
janfromjersey806 December 2004
I had the rare opportunity to view this film after one of the director's friend's made a copy for me. I must say, I was mighty impressed with the film. I don't understand why it hasn't hit direct to DVD yet because there are so many hundreds of bad movies out nowadays and you would think a great film like this would get some respect it deserves. I hope that some film companies are reading this... Get the movie on DVD! As far as the acting goes, all of the cast was great in the film except for that pizza guy. Talk about a bad actor! Anyways, technically speaking the film crew did a good job on such a low budget. I will see this again at the Atlantic City festival. That Kevin guy is so hot.

Oustanding indie
josephmaglio6 January 2004
I saw the premiere of Never Among Friends last year in New Jersey, and thought that the film was quite an accomplishment, especially considering the restraints and low budget that accompany an independent movie. It was also interesting to be able to see the film before the final editing was done. The director was very open to critiques and was using the audience's reaction to help him figure out the final presentation, which was very cool. While I've read several negative comments on this site, they really have no basis. For a young director and somewhat inexperienced cast, the movie was a great success. It was very entertaining, and well worth my money. Also, and I read this comment several times as well, the actor who played Sean stood out dramatically. He is extremely talented and made his character very believable. I'm sure we'll see him in many more movies in the future.

I just saw that Never Among Friends will be screened in a film festival in Philadelphia, and since it's not on DVD yet, I think I'm gonna make the trip to see it again.

Really nice to see Freehold on the big screen
amyrose1200217 December 2002
I was born and raised in Freehold, New Jersey, and I was thrilled to attend the premiere of Never Among Friends and see the town of Freehold immortalized on the big screen. The acting, music, directing, and story were all fantastic and I wish everyone who worked on this independent film the best of luck in the future. I was amazed how great the production values were considering the director was only 20 years of age and that the budget was so low. The only complaint I have with the movie is that it is too damn short! At 80 minutes, I wanted more and more but ended too soon. I wonder what JMA Films and Blue Parrot Entertainment plans to do with the film. I bet we will see lots more of Never Among Friends in festivals and maybe at alternate screenings in and around the state of New Jersey. One can only hope!

A great flick

This film is absolutely fantastic. I hope Hollywood comes knocking on their door. I see these filmmakers like Sofia Coppola and I get annoyed - it isn't right for her to call Lost in Translation an indie film. After all, look who her father is! For crying out loud, a truly indie film is Never Among Friends, one made on a small budget with people who have the full passion and desire to make movies and who do it themselves. I just hope the filmmakers can get this film out there. I went to the Freedom Film Festival in Philadelphia to see this film and I am amazed how well the young director did on his first feature film. I know we will be seeing a lot more from him but I just hope someone out there gives him his big break. Keep up the great work guys!

Very enjoyable

First off, I would just like to commend the entire JMA Films production team on a splendid job well done. For the small budget of $7,000, Jason M. Allentoff has made an amazing film filled with lots of great scenes that were not only memorable, but funny and moving at the same time. I must say that most of the indie's I have seen recently were not as good as this one. I caught the film at the world premiere in Red Bank, New Jersey, and hope that some distributor see's it and releases it! It was an entertaining hour and 20 minutes that seemed to fly by faster than you can say the film's title. I can see JMA making more movies in the future and hope they match this first try. The actors in the movie were great as well, especially Kevin Interdonato's portrayal of Sean Ferrara. I am sure we will be seeing him again. I tried to meet Mr. Allentoff after the movie at the premiere, but there was a crowd of people around him so I didn't get a chance to talk to him. Great job guys! I hope to be seeing more movies from you in the future.

Amazingly well done...

I am happy to say that I really enjoyed this film. I think the whole crew did a fantastic job and the actors did great as well. The film did have flaws: the camera work could have been better, the guy who played the pizza man was absolutely not-believable, and some of the editing was choppy. All in all, for a 20 year old director and a budget under 10 grand, I think they all deserve a big congratulations and they really surprised me on the quality of shooting and the story. I think the guy who played Sean will go far in the acting world. He was great. I would have liked to see the girl Jane onscreen more and a little more from Tracy as well. However, if I had to give the movie a ratings scale I would say three out of four stars!

Wonderfully acted and enjoyable film

The movie was worth the trip from Edison to Red Bank. I enjoyed every minute of the film and wish the filmmakers and cast a lot of luck in the future. The film had heart and it showed that even if you don't have a big budget, you can still make a high quality motion picture. I hope to be seeing more from these guys. Great job!

The best indie film
slimerghost120 December 2002
I really liked Never Among Friends. It was a movie that made you think about real life. I think the style of the way the film was shot was good and added to the feel. It seemed to me like I was the fifth friend in the circle of friends in the movie. Everything about the movie was great and I really hope it comes to video. I will be the first one to get it if that is the case.

never among friends
dorknut00729 May 2005
i happened to catch the screening of never among friends in Philadelphia this weekend and i think never among friends is a great movie and that Natalie is hot and sexy and belongs on in Hollywood, or she is a far better actress than everyone else in this movie and i think that is plain to see All I can say is that this movie makes me want Natalie Durante. I think that the plot is realistic and that it incorporates all realistic events which affect many couples in America and just the fact that this guy would leave a girl such as Jane in the movie is absurd... like why cant u be happy with what u have at home and have to go out and go for some other chick when u have Jane waiting at home... all i have to say is that if Natalie Durante was waiting at home for me i would not be out like that... it just makes me mad

Impressive
allycat19817 December 2004
I must say, coming out of the minds (and pockets!) of some young independent film makers, this is quite an accomplishment. Kudos to the director, writing team, and all cast and crew who came together to really start JMA, and all the others involved, on their quest for greatness. Minus some unavoidable bad effects, some sound problem, and campy acting here and there, it was definitely an enjoyable film...Kevin Interdonato really pulled the film together and the soundtrack really is great....I had the opportunity to see NAF at the premiere and it was great to see such local talent coming together like that - and the two PACKED houses would certainly impress even the most famous of Hollywood-ites....Congrats to all!!

Fantastic movie - want more!
billnj8016 March 2005
I had the chance to see Never Among Friends at Penn State in Erie, Pennsylvania in December of 2004. I must say it was an amazing production. For the amount of money they put into the production, you can tell that everyone was deeply involved with making a great film. It is rare to see such an amazing display of talent in all areas. Sure the film was shot on BetaSP which is a professional video format not as good as film, but it was better than most of the indie films and some of the major motion pictures released nowadays. It would be nice if Jason Allentoff and his production team got some more notice for this flick.

I must say I enjoyed every aspect of the production from the story to the acting. From the way it was shot to the way the story flowed. It was great. The music was also very enjoyable.

I can't wait to buy a copy of this flick. Write to Hollywood and lobby for NEVER AMONG FRIENDS to get a DVD release!

The worst!
jeff727200215 December 2002
I can't believe the crap that came out of this one! This is by far the worst of the independent films. The only good thing about the movie was when it was over. Trash! Absolute trash! I don't think JMA or anyone else involved with this film will ever do anything again. Everything about the movie sucked including the camera work, editing, and the production values were terrible. I could have done better.
