...And would not be shown in schools today because of its 'honest' History and whatever else someone would take offense to.
I originally watched this series on A&E in early 1991. A&E ran the Classic CBS WORLD WAR 1 and this one in back to back over a month in the mornings 7-8AM January/ February of that year and I managed to record 13 of the 16 episodes of BTW. It was perfect complete time capsule of the years 1910-1941.
Four years later I bought the WW1 Series. Then armed with what info I had I started calling with my local PBS station and then to A&E .... 4 hours and 12 total calls later I finally got to the distribution center in New Jersey and bought the entire series on tape for $160.00. The picture above is exactly what the cover was for the VHS series.
To listen to the people who were there, to see the unedited actual events as they were captured, to hear the late great Eric Severeid of Murrows Boys & CBS who lived it in REAL TIME...it doesn't get much better. I would highly Recommend this series as a basic teaching tool for that time frame.
Remind the young ones that the digital age was still 60 years out when these films were shot! :-)
TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH!
