Missed potential
eybarks20 June 2018
This show is interesting. In that as an American I get to see the inside of some lovely English homes. Most times it's a clutter issue but sometimes the Decor is just plain awful. Unfortunately sometimes the makeovers are just plain awful too. I understand that the budget is small but some designs and furniture re-dos are cheesy. The voice overs are obnoxious.the tone. When Tracy speaks to the owners directly or the camera directly her personality comes through. The tone of the voiceover is harsh and strident. so there is work to be done both on the homes and on the presentation of the show

Fun, but questionable decorating
ronwold-124 June 2018
I've been binge-watching the Tracy Metro series this weekend. As others have mentioned, I know there is a budget, but really?!? Did Tracy get a great deal on navy, green and yellow paint? And, these aren't great shades either. Looks like she also got a deal on wallpaper and fabric, too. I have a feeling some of this might look okay from afar, but don't get too close.

Good show but decorating is awful
jax71318 June 2018
I've been watching the 2016 installment of this show and, while I love to see home make-overs, the design sensibility of Tracy Metro leaves a lot to be desired. In many of the scenarios, it was apparent that some of the homeowners had a better eye for decor even though their projects were incomplete. Clutter is a major problem in most of the make-overs and you don't need a decorator for that. I understand that the design budget was very small but Tracy's re-dos are very cheap looking colorations and upcycled furnishings. In one house, she painted a brick fireplace surround battleship gray in a living room with colorful bird wallpaper on a white background and dark beige carpet, and then hung dollar store paper fans in bright colors on the wall as "art." The room looked disjointed and in need of an immediate make-over. Tracy has a nice expressive tv personna but she's no decorator. I've rated this 3 stars because I always enjoy seeing the inside of homes in the UK because they are so different from American houses.

Tracy is bubbly, but her makeovers are horrendous!
JonathanWalford28 July 2018
The original version of this show with host Ann Maurice was amazing! Ann could take two twigs and a can of paint and make an English mid-row terrace look like a holiday get-away, but Tracy decorates the same way she dresses - in a bizarrely over-the-top manner. I had to revote this show a '2' because of Tracy, from the '7' I had given it for Ann Maurice... too bad.

Terrible

Tracy Metro ruins the show. Her designing is nothing special and her persona in front of the camera is obnoxious.

Simply Appalling!
billaurah-1895128 August 2018
I am not a professional decorator, however, it has become my hobby for many years and I take it very seriously. To watch Traci Metro ruin these peoples homes with her poor sense of style and her cheaply made decor has often made the show seem to be more of a comedy. Although she has the right attitude and bubbly personality for the show, she lacks the skills to decorate affectively. PLEASE TAKE HER AND THE SHOW OFF THE AIR.

I'm American, and I'm Embarrassed
marhruby2 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So this show popped up as a suggested series for me, and as I love watching home makeovers, I clicked. From the very first episode I was embarrassed for my country. Tracy indulges in ridiculous American stereotypes and even correlates her awkward personality and abrasive, rude comments to the fact that she's from the U.S. Even when disregarding all this, the show is unbearable to watch, as Tracy continuously runs around RUINING everyone's homes. Her tacky and cheap fashion sense is echoed in her interior design. Her personal style can only be described as "Librarian Who Ransacked a Garage Sale While Trippin' on Acid." Her motto is, "If you can't fix it, hide it." I simply cannot explain how incredulous I have become upon hearing this statement from someone who is PAID to remodel people's personal homes! She paints over beautiful, rich, high-quality wood and installs heinous, 70's style linoleum floors. None of her design schemes make sense, let alone look decent. Don't even get me started on the FUSCHIA PINK walls and decor accents (she once hung a BROKEN, hot pink picture frame with a FAKE, potted orchid dangling in the middle of it right smack in front of an expansive window overlooking a beautiful, lush garden in a sun room. Hilariously, she painted an entire bedroom pink after telling the home owner in the episode IMMEDIATELY PRIOR that pink bedrooms are juvenile). Do not be confused. This is NOT how we act in America, nor how we decorate our houses.

Best worst show ever
hofferlikesbeatles1 May 2019
I've been house ridden all day with a cold watching this show, and let me tell you, it's a blessing. The moment Tracy walked on set with a cropped blazer (in 2016) I knew I was in for a treat. The supercut of the final product of the first home blew me away. Probably the most gaudy and hideous renovation I've ever seen. So I said to myself, "is this real? Have I been blessed?" So I watched another episode. In this episode she upcycled a broken frame and painted it fushia, she also used gingham vinyl in the kitchen and a plastic table cover with apples on it. Now I knew I was in terrible TV heaven.

My roommate is an interior designer, she's not home yet, but rest assured this show will become our new obsession. Thank you house doctor for showing me the best worst renovation show I didn't know I needed. I give this show a 10/10. But, if the houses that were renovated could rate this show they would probably give it no stars.

Fake, Cheap, and Loud
CoyoteRain28 July 2018
Been binge watching this show for a bit and I think the concept is interesting, bringing someone with different styles from a different country to bring a fresh look & approach to sell a house.

Designs end up looking really cheap & messy, like it was rushed just to try and sell the house.

Tracy's approach also rubs me the wrong way, gets into the personal space of sellers, fake smiles, loud. Her personal style seems cheap & loud too. Also seems to enjoy 'splaining things "we call it this, but you call it this" (Brits don't need an American to teach them their own language/culture/history/etc.).

Fake, cheap and loud seems to be a theme.

It's all about her...or much ado about nothing
galaxybeing-4101231 December 2018
While I enjoy the look of the inside charming British homes, the "improvements" are hardly enough to keep my attention. The success rate is hardly compelling. Most grating though is Tracy. Her ego and use of "I" after a team has created the results sent me to the TV remote. Not recommended.

Misses the mark
nicolee-1139220 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Are there color schemes other than pink and green or gray and orange? Nearly every makeover is the same, including a large wall left completely blank. The show seems to be about decluttering and spray-painting your items to look cheap. Tracy does not have much of an eye for design.

Watching a train wreck
mumydeerst27 March 2019
So is she a decorator or is she a home stager? I've heard her call herself both but I have serious doubts either way. Sometimes I can hardly watch as perky Tracy's awful plans unfold. Sure, when homeowners get rid of clutter, extra furniture and remove old rugs, the rooms look open and light. Paint an accent wall in an outlandish color if you have to (we wouldn't do that in the US to sell our houses though). But please just stop slopping ugly colors of paint on homeowners' clocks, chandeliers and furniture and sticking up cheap wall decor such as crepe paper pieces and 20 embroidery hoops stretching quilting fabric squares. Tell me how painting dresser knobs each a different color helps sell a house - that's downright nutty.

It's interesting seeing the different towns, houses and homeowners in England but I'd rather do it with someone other than "look at me" Tracy Metro. After every episode, I feel like we should isue an apology to the Brits for the big dose of crazy inflicted on their homes.

Can't review this show without mentioning how distracting Tracy's outfits are.

It is so bad it is great
jessikacurto28 March 2021
As you can see from all comments here, Tracy's sense of style is so bad, and in my opinion this is exactly what makes the show so good!

There's some kind of pleasure to watch her ruining people's houses with feathers on the walls, terrible wallpaper that matches the owners clothes, terribly designed objects (she made a candle inside a beer can once making the house look like an AA terror).

I absolutely love it!

Poor England! No to Traci but love the Show
cbelliveau-827759 May 2019
Traci makes Americans look so bad. We are not all loud and bossy. She is too far over the top. The comments she makes about loud Americans are just horrid. I love the idea of the show and especially seeing areas in England. Was able to spot a house very close to my old family home. The decor changes are mostly horrible. Sometimes she makes some good choices but these are rare. Find a new designer and keep the show.

So ANNOYING!
lilianadejesusarellano22 April 2019
I watched one episode and I was already over her and her views of decorating. She's rude and obnoxious. Not to mention her annoying voice when she repeats about being American. Avery annoying American with horrible taste. Who decorates an old lady room PINK??? Nasty pink. Her show bothers me because she only fixes one or two areas of the apartments/houses.

Superior to its North American copycats
joanne__king4 January 2005
Idiosyncratic and far superior to the boring American copycat "Sell This House".

I can't imagine seeing anything like the family who kept a rat in a cage in the bathroom, on a US show.

The show has a delightful "snoopy" quality that seems to be sanitized out of US and Canadian decorating shows. It does not take snooping quite as far as the humorous but short lived British series 'Dame Edna's Neighborhood Watch' (qv).

'Alistair Appleton' (qv) is also the host (or Presenter, as they say in Britain) of the show 'Cash in the Attic' (qv).

Horrible taste level!
katie_litchfield6 December 2021
Is this a comedy? This woman ruins people's houses for the most part. The designer has a great attitude but her taste is truly atrocious. So they simply not film the potential buyers real comments? Clashing colors and tacky accents. Just tacky overall really.

Bless this show's heart...
reneadijab29 August 2018
I loved Sarah Beeny's "Selling Houses" - who also, in many ways, made some ridiculous style choices because I thought that was just the way the British did things and I enjoyed seeing the homes.

In this case, Tracy Metro is an American - who knows goddamn well we don't hang hummingbird wallpaper and paint rooms fuchsia to sell them. She spends two days and two thousand dollars doing terrible things that ultimately look like a colorful tag sale.

And while her high energy clothing style is cute, those color schemes don't translate well to English lounges.

I survived three episodes on Tracy's sweet demeanor, but the results were just too depressing to continue.

Cheap and tacky results
freckle-248178 July 2022
I'm on holiday in Spain right now and this show crossed my way while zapping trough all those foreign channels. Though the show itself is interesting and definitely has potential, the make over results are ugly, inconsistent and cheap looking. As loud and over the top as Tracy Metro is, as uncoordinated and tasteless are her "designs". If I was a homeowner I would ask for a compensation. I wonder who told her that she could be a decorator.

Straight Forward
chris-329254 April 2022
I'd like to start off by saying that I feel sorry for all of the people who gave pitiful reviews. They sound like they had a bad day and were just looking for someone or something to take it out on.

Personally I thoroughly enjoy Tracy Metro. I liked most of her choices in design and color. The houses she is designing have a lot more issues than just clutter. Some are so outdated, I have seen episodes where the walls were literally crumbling another had mold. I find it amazing what Tracy and her team do to help people sell their homes. I will continue to watch this show.

Annoying voice over
sarahalcindor-278991 April 2019
The show is okay. Typical renovation "before-after" set up. But the constant choppy voice-over kills the entire series. The designs are questionable as well
