2K Games has just revealed the Superstar who will grace the cover of WWE 2K18 with an epic reveal trailer, entitled "Be Like No One". Watch it below and find out what's in store!
It happens for sports. It happens for sports entertainment, as well. 2K Games has announced that their annual WWE 2K game will release later this year with a brand new cover athlete (Superstar), for WWE 2K18. The identity of that cover man was revealed with a pretty cool trailer, "Be Like No One".
Seth Rollins, a.k.a. "The Architect" a.k.a. "The Kingslayer", will be the man when WWE 2K18 releases on October 17. Rollins' presence isn't the only new aspect coming to WWE 2K18. 2K is rolling out their new Early Access initiative which invites wrestling fans to play the game 4 days before the game comes out. Nxt: Takeover: Chicago will air this Saturday on the WWE Network for the first time outside of their quarterly, big four schedule. (The big four I reference of course being the WWE events Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.) Taking place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, the show features the best and brightest of the WWE Nxt brand. Since the Nxt brand has consistently put on some of the best shows of the year for the WWE, I thought we'd take a few minutes to go through the card for the show while I offer some predictions on who may win.

It's amazing to see how some people careers progress. In this case I am talking about Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The former WWE superstar who's first match came in 1996 at Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden. His film debut came in The Mummy Returns in 2001 and since then he has taken the film industry by storm doing films like Walking Tall and joining the Fast and the Furious crew all the way to being The Tooth Fairy. With future films already in the works like Rampage and a future role as DC Comic's Black Adam, it is safe to say that Johnson isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
If wrestling and movies weren't enough, Johnson alongside Dany Garcia are expanding their production company known as Seven Bucks Productions. Variety is reporting that using their digital arm called Seven Bucks Digital Studios and in partnership with Studio71, Seven Bucks Productions has launched it's first-ever pilot program.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Rock- Wrestlemania 17
“Shaking hands with Satan himself.”
Wrestlemania 17, hands down, is the best Wrestlemania booked to date. Apart from a horribly short Women’s Championship match with Chyna facing off against Ivory, from the opening match to the main event, every match was great.
The main event of the show was "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Rock. The previous year, Austin had been recovering from long needed neck surgery sustained at the hands of Owen Hart at Summerslam 1997. During his time away, superstars like The Rock and Triple H stepped up their game and became main event players in their own right. When you are out of action for close to a year, there is a very real fear that by the time you get back in the ring you would have lost a step or two. Or worse, that the fans would...

WWE Universal Champion Goldberg decimated Brock Lesnar when the two faced off at Survivor Series 2016: Spear, Spear, Jackhammer. The end-result was deja vu all over again from the only other time the two met, which was way back in 2004. “The Beast Incarnate” Lesnar gets one last shot at redemption at April 2’s WrestleMania 33, which is set in Orlando, Florida — and Lesnar’s “Advocate” Paul Heyman tells TheWrap that this time, Bill Goldberg will truly be “Beaten, Victimized and Conquered” — a favorite catchphrase of the popular pro-wrestling promoter. Read our preview of Lesnar-Goldberg III below. Also Read: WWE's Paul Heyman.

Just days ago, Marvel posted a teaser image online depicting a new group led by Old Man Logan with the rest of the members blacked out as if they were mystery partners joining him in a Survivor Series-style tag team match. Since then, speculation has run rampant with some theorizing it’s for a new X-Force book. Well, today we can confirm that it has everything to do with the upcoming relaunch of Astonishing X-Men.
No doubt causing many readers to fondly recall the series of the same name once penned by Joss Whedon, this iteration of the title seems like a dream come true for anyone who was a kid in the 1990’s. I mean, how could a lineup consisting of Old Man Logan, Archangel, Mystique, Rogue, Gambit, Bishop, Psylocke and Fantomex not bring a nostalgic tear to your eye?

February 10th, 1989 is an important date in professional wrestling history as that is the date that Vince McMahon, in testimony to the New Jersey State Senate, admitted that professional wrestling was not a sport but was in fact sports entertainment. The term they used in the wrestling business, kayfabe, giving the audience the illusion that what you were seeing was real and not staged, was officially dead.
That did not mean the death of the industry. In fact, it opened the flood gates for many other promotions to set up shop. Most importantly, it allowed the superstars themselves to finally tell fans stories of what happened back stage.
With the rise of podcasts, wrestling fans have plenty of shows to choose from, whether it be analysis of the current state of wrestling or stories of life behind the scenes. There is something for everyone. The following are some of my...

Monday Night Raw is in the books for another week. One day after the aftermath of the Royal Rumble, the Raw brand finds itself on the Road to Wrestlemania. How did the show fare this week?
One big development is the official challenge from Brock Lesnar to Goldberg for one last match at Wrestlemania. Brock’s advocate, the legendary Paul Heyman, once again did the talking for him which, even on Paul’s worst night, is always a treat to watch.
Heyman’s promo on Raw was the textbook reason why some people need managers. Brock Lesnar, unless he’s in an interview setting, is about as interesting on the mic as watching paint dry. (I say this with confidence because he’s not in the room with me as I write this. If he were to walk into the room right now, I would say ‘Yes Mr. Lesnar, you...

The WWE has announced the first official member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017 and that is none other than the first Olympic Gold Medal winning superstar, Kurt Angle. Starting his career at the 1999 Survivor Series, he went on to become a multiple time World Champion for the company.
Kurt's accomplishments in the ring speak for themselves. From classic matches with the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Shane McMahon, to his classic backstages segments with the likes of Austin, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon, there was never a dull moment when Kurt Angle was on the screen.
In 2006, Kurt made the move to Tna where he became a multiple time World Champion for that company. He had some classic matches with folks like Sting, Samoa Joe, and Aj Styles. While his run in Tna ended without much fanfare, he was definitely one of the...

Bill Goldberg is your first entrant into the 2017 Royal Rumble match. As TheWrap previously reported, the pro wrestling icon extended his one-match-only contract with the WWE prior to Sunday’s “Survivor Series.” Goldberg put the entire men’s locker room on notice last night on “Raw” — the former WCW superstar says he’s going for one last WWE title run. “At the Royal Rumble match, everyone is next!” he declared to open the USA Network flagship wrestling show. Bill Goldberg made his return to the ring last night and did not disappoint. In a shocker, he beat the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar in just over 90 seconds for the victory. To this point, Brock was riding one of the greatest waves of momentum the industry had ever seen, which included a run with the WWE World Championship and the first victory over The Undertaker at a Wrestlemania. Many were left wondering why the WWE would have a part time performer who is 49 years old and hasn't wrestled in over 12 years destroy Brock as quickly as he did? What were the long term plans if this were a one and done scenario?

Well, 2016 continues to prove it’s no 2015. ABC’s “American Music Awards” plummeted 31 percent in TV ratings versus last year, setting a new all-time low for the show. Among total viewers, the AMAs dropped 25 percent year over year. The Disney-owned broadcast network finished third in primetime, falling to NBC and CBS, respectively. Both of those channels had NFL football on their schedules. Of course, that wasn’t exclusive to 2016, nor was WWE’s “Survivor Series,” against which the AMAs also competed last year. From 2014 to last year’s show, the “American Music Awards” slipped 8 percent. Also Read: AMAs 2016: Complete Winners.

Pro wrestling icon Goldberg has extended his WWE contract for more matches, a person with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap. The agreement was apparently set in stone before Sunday’s “Survivor Series,” which may explain why the main event was so brief and one-sided. Expectations are that Goldberg returns for January’s “Royal Rumble,” possibly in a rematch versus Brock Lesnar. Or, theoretically, if Bill Goldberg is booked in the actual over-the-top-rope free-for-all itself, the Beast Incarnate may have to wait until “WrestleMania 33” to exact his revenge. Either way, expect Lesnar to be hungry for something more than a sub from.

The Undertaker made his return for the historic 900th episode of Smackdown and boy did he make an impact. When Team Smackdown, the five Superstars who will be competing this Sunday against the five Superstars from Team Raw, were on The Cutting Edge with returning star Edge, the legendary Deadman made his return to the show.
What's newsworthy about the return is a couple things. First of all, he stated that "...Wrestlemania will no longer define who I am." With reports earlier in the year that The Undertaker needed crutches to get around, being involved in the highly physical matches he'd been having at Wrestlemania the past decade is probably not the smartest thing to do for his long term health. What's better than The Rock? The Rock talking about The Rock, of course! Dwayne Johnson looked back at a recording of his very first WWE match and took us through some pretty hilarious commentary. The footage is so '90s. Let's get some background. According to his YouTube channel, he made his wrestling debut in 1996 on November 7. If you can believe it, it's been nearly 20 years, since he blessed us with his Rock-ness. Back then, he wrestled under the name "Rocky Maivia." The match was held at Madison Square Garden; which is a huge deal he explains, considering how unlikely it is for a newcomer to start at such a big-name venue. 1.Cm Punk lost his match against Mickey Gall at Ufc 203 this past week. While the outcome was pretty much expected by just about everyone, I have to give the guy credit. He had a dream he wanted to realize and despite the list of injuries he’s obtained through the years in the wrestling ring as well as being in his late thirties, an older age to start competing in combat sports like Mma, he fulfilled his dream. Not many people can say they did that especially with such odds stacked against them. With that being said, folks had some fun after the match creating some meme’s. While some weren’t in the best of taste, there was a funny one. I’ll leave that here.

During an emotional induction ceremony into the WWE Hall of Fame, 2016 class headliner Sting officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling.
Sting’s announcement comes as little surprise, given that news broke last month that the multi-time world champion would no longer be able to compete due to injury. Still, Sting – who acknowledged that he had been hurt – would not confirm the rumors, and even hinted at returning to the ring in the future.
Sting was one of the most popular wrestlers in the history of WCW, and one of the now defunct company’s biggest homegrown stars. After WCW folded in 2001, he had no interest in competing for WWE, instead spending years working for Tna. Finally, in 2014, he left Tna for good. He arrived in WWE at that year’s Survivor Series, attacking Triple H. That led to a marquee matchup with “The Game” at WrestleMania 31, which Triple H won.

WrestleMania is, incredibly, now about to hit its thirty-second instalment as WWE’s biggest, most grandiose event of the year. And if it’s WWE’s biggest, then it’s the professional wrestling industry’s biggest, too.
In the old days, the company had the so-called Big Four pay-per-views – Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series – rising head and shoulders above the smaller events broadcast every month. Nowadays, though, WrestleMania doesn’t even belong in the same ballpark as the other three.
The Show Of Shows is an industry all in itself. Practically every promotion, person and pro wrestling patron with ties to the business will descend upon Dallas this week to snap up all the available hotel space and fill the city’s social calendar to bursting with wrestling-related events.

Sometimes it’s tempting to get caught up in the past as a WWE fan. When you think back to childhood memories of watching Hulk Hogan fight for what’s right Monday nights, to watching Stone Cold Steve Austin give the middle finger to the man, it can be hard to imagine any modern WWE storylines even coming close to the “good old days.”
But while everyone will always have their favorite era of WWE, the truth is that living in the past can sometimes make you blind to greatness in the present. WWE is a 24/7, 365 day a year brand of entertainment and with that much content, they are bound to produce something excellent even in leaner years.
In fact, recent years have produced several storylines that could easily stand toe to toe with the very best WWE has ever produced. Among them, these are the very best.

Kurt Angle recently ended his close to ten year run with Tna Wrestling. Angle took part in a farewell tour with Tna while the company was running events in the U.K. in late January.
Angle’s final Tna match that was taped during that tour just aired on Tna’s Impact Wrestling show a couple of weeks ago on PopTV.
Now Angle is making headlines concerning the future of his wrestling career. Though a return to WWE for Kurt has always seemed to be a possibility, nobody knows exactly when that may happen and if WWE is even interested. Angle publicly commented a couple of years ago about wanting to return to the company where he became famous, but WWE wasn’t interested at the time due to Angle’s recent history between 2008 and 2013 with DUI arrests.

We’ve been subject to some pretty damn awful WWE PPVs lately, it must be said. Just a few short months ago, the 2015 Survivor Series made a great many fans want to throw their TV out the window as they rushed to Twitter to tell their fellow WWE Universe members that they were cancelling their WWE Network subscription right now, never to re-sub again…
Those fans really ought to get a bit of perspective, and could do so by having a look at some of the totally piss-poor supercards that fans were ‘treated’ to between 2000-2009. Yes, during both the much-vaunted Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras, Vince McMahon and company put on some shows that were something rather less than stellar.

Too often, the Royal Rumble can seem like a one-man match. Despite being a 30-entrant free-for-all, it’s regularly remembered as little more than a setup for the WrestleMania title match main event.
The upshot is that the winner of the Royal Rumble is usually pretty easy to call. WWE’s booking is transparent enough that most savvy viewers can guess who’ll be closing out WrestleMania by the time they’re halfway through watching Survivor Series.
What really makes things interesting in the Rumble, more than the actual winner, are the last three men eliminated. They’re the understudies, so to speak: the ones whom WWE didn’t choose this year, but Could have, had things panned out differently. Those three, along with the winner, form the ‘final four’, representing WWE’s theoretical top contenders for that year.

WrestleMania is the conclusion of WWE’s year, a season finale which wraps up narratives and completes character story arcs. It is also the night “where it all begins again” and, as witnessed with WrestleMania 31, the months afterwards are often dictated by what went down at the Showcase of the Immortals.
WWE have already foreshadowed some of the action that fans can expect this spring. Meanwhile, industry insiders have offered backstage insight on what the plans are this summer. Even as far as the autumn and winter, some pretty good guesses can be made regarding what Vince McMahon will be offering in his main events.
Before getting to the predictions on the next eight months worth of main events, something firstly needs to be said on the WrestleMania 32 main event: Roman Reigns will win the WWE Championship from Triple H. That’s been the plan for a while...

A heel turn is never easy to pull off.
First, the turnee must be able to channel their inner baddie to effectively play the role or else run the risk of failing miserably. Then, it has to make sense within the context of the story. Finally, the fans have to be ready to accept a performer in that role. If they are not absolutely convinced that the character is somehow unlikable, they will either cheer them or react with crippling indifference.
Over the course of WWE history, the company have masterminded several highly successful heel turns, such as when The Rock emerged as the Corporate champion at Survivor Series 1998 or when Andre the Giant ripped Hulk Hogan’s shirt in the run-up to WrestleMania III.
For every great heel turn, though, there are a wealth of awful ones that have failed to capture the imaginations of the audience.

Every year, WWE runs a tour of the UK and other European markets just after WrestleMania. While this year’s edition had promised to be big with the announcement that Daniel Bryan would be appearing at April 19’s Smackdown! tapings in London, it just got even grander – The Undertaker will also be a part of the tour.
WWE runs two separate house show schedules with two separate rosters, and in order to give both sets of shows a shot of star power, Bryan will be on one and The Undertaker will be on the other. According to the Wrestling Observer, The Undertaker will be in action, though no opponents have been announced yet. This puts to rest any lingering speculation that the legend will be hanging up his hat after WrestleMania 32.
The Undertaker appeared on Raw in London prior to last year’s Survivor Series, but wasn’t in action.

With pay-per-view taking a decided backseat to the WWE Network, the idea has been put forth to reduce the number of WWE pay-per-views from its annual dozen. This is actually a reasonable idea. Since nothing of note really happens at secondary events like Payback and Fastlane and Night of Champions, there’s really no point in spending three weeks building matches for something that’s largely going to be ignored.
Keep the big five pay-per-views (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam, Survivor Series), and run seven live specials on the Network on Saturdays in the vein of October’s Madison Square Garden show, or the upcoming Toronto event. Hey, bring back Saturday Night’s Main Event as a Network exclusive – you don’t have to waste the whole roster on insta-feuds that way.

May, 1995 was the month when the then-World Wrestling Federation decided to go monthly with their pay-per-view specials. The previous year, only Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, King Of The Ring, SummerSlam and Survivor Series had been on PPV, but they were soon joined by the In Your House series. This allowed Vince McMahon to offer fans cut-price events which would help fill in the gaps between the major shows.
Over time, the idea of monthly pay-per-view would prove to be a success, but it’d take the WWF audience a while to warm up to the concept. The cheaper In Your House shows were two hours in length, shorter than the three afforded to the regular supershows. They came across as lower rent too, but that didn’t mean there couldn’t be awesome matches for fans who did tune in to enjoy.

When Sting finally arrived in WWE at Survivor Series 2014, it was a sight as shocking as it was exciting. It was one of the great moments in professional wrestling that nobody thought they would see, as the one man who seemed destined to forever stay out of the clutches of Vince McMahon finally turned up on his show. In the crazy world of pro wrestling however, ‘never’ is not in the dictionary.
Sting made his in-ring WWE debut at WrestleMania Xxxi in a losing effort to Triple H, before going on to challenge Seth Rollins later in the year. Though he lost that match too, the more important development was that he picked up an injury that seems to have ended his active wrestling career. Sting suffered very serious neck damage whilst taking a fairly routine buckle bomb, and has since gone under the knife to correct cervical spinal stenosis.

As the World Wrestling Federation settled into the decade of the nineties, the company would face multiple obstacles that jeopardised its status as the premier entertainment juggernaut it had been in the 80s, as well as the success of its biggest show of the year, WrestleMania.
Federal investigations, staunch competition, ageing talents, and the desperate need to create new superstars all contributed to the would-be decline of the second decade of WrestleMania, making the event slip a bit in terms of prestige.
In addition, the venues had changed from 50,000+ seat open stadiums to smaller arenas that might seat 20,000 max. Despite the decline, WrestleMania still produced some very memorable stories from this time period, but, like the first ten shows, there are a number of things that took place behind-the-scenes that aren’t as well known.
Recently, in 20 Things You Didn’t Know About WrestleMania (1985-1994), the secret stories from...

Patricia Anne Stratigeas, better known by her ring name, Trish Stratus, is arguably the greatest women’s performer in WWE history. A record-shattering seven time Women’s Champion and now a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Trish’s near seven year wrestling career provided the WWE Universe with an array of memorable moments.
Initially debuting as a manager for the tag team of T & A, Trish was a scandalous and saucy heel diva branded a ‘witch’ and a ‘jezebel’ by good ol’ Jr. As her wrestling ability and confidence as an entertainer began to rapidly improve during 2001, Trish transitioned into a full-time wrestling competitor, winning her first Women’s Championship at Survivor Series 2001. By then, Trish’s popularity had soared and for the next few years, Stratus became the cornerstone of the Divas division, dominating her competitors, all with the support and back up from the WWE fan base.

He was there when ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin infamously filled Vince McMahon’s Corvette with concrete, he watched in awe as Vince ‘screwed’ Bret Hart at the 1997 Survivor Series pay-per-view, and he was sat in an emergency room with a broken and battered Mick Foley following his infamous Hell In A Cell match with The Undertaker.
Vince Russo has had quite the career in pro wrestling as a television writer, producer and even an occasional on-screen performer.
The man has courted controversy throughout his association with the wrestling world, but people never seem to stop talking about him. Plans always change in WWE, but the construction of this year’s WrestleMania has thus far been a cavalcade of aborted and rearranged ideas – and that’s no more evident than in the path The Undertaker’s scheduled bout has taken. News broke last year that Wyatt Family giant Braun Strowman was being groomed for the position, but WWE higher-ups thought better of it and decided to go with a John Cena-Undertaker dream match. Once Cena suffered a shoulder injury, Strowman was again a potential opponent for the Phenom, but that idea has reportedly been shelved again.
Even though John Cena is known for his quick recoveries, he doesn’t seem likely to make this year’s WrestleMania – meaning that there’s nobody on the docket for Undertaker to face. WWE is currently suffering the consequences of not having built up talent over the past twelve months,...

For 25 years, he’s been the one constant in WWE. While other wrestlers defected to WCW or retired, Mark Callaway has stuck around for a quarter of a century as The Undertaker.
When the gimmick started out at the Survivor Series in 1990, it was thought it’d be a short term gig with a limited shelf life but it’s a testament to the talent of Mark Calaway that he’s been able to stick around for so long and remain an iconic character in the eyes of the fans.
In the 20 plus years he’s been in action, Undertaker has gone from the spectrum of having some classic matches that saved WrestleMania shows to having stinkers that were so awful he lived up to his gimmick by killing crowds. Vince McMahon’s appetite for having Taker face giants, freaks and supernatural folk is seemingly insatiable and thus...

Wrestling’s not all that different from legitimate sports in a number of regards, among them the ‘what could have been’ instances. In sports, it could be one play in a game that, had it gone just a smidge differently, could have swung an entire outcome. For wrestling, it comes down to decisions, both from the office and the workers. Had all hands on deck agreed to go a certain way with a proposed idea, wrestling history as we know it could be much different in many aspects.
WrestleMania lore is loaded with ideas that ended up crumpled and littered on the power broker’s floor. Maybe an injury changed fate. Maybe somebody exercised creative control and killed an idea. Perhaps Vince McMahon himself, going through one of his many abrupt changes of heart, decided to roll in a different direction, as he’s apt to do.

This is gonna be short and sweet, folks. In this regular feature I intend to put my quarter-of-a-century of wrestling viewing to good use by helping to educate and inform the modern fan about the greats of a generation they missed out on.
Bret Hart was one of the greatest in-ring performers of all time, possessing the ability to contest barn-burning matches with a variety of different opponents. He was a master technician. A creator of fine art between the ropes. He has not wrestled in a decade-and-a-half, so chances are many of the new generation of wrestling fans have never had the pleasure of watching him wrestle.
It would be all too easy to randomly select seven great Bret Hart matches, and lists of that ilk are readily available for those who want them. Everybody knows about Hart’s classics with Davey Boy Smith (SummerSlam ’92 and In Your House 5), Steve Austin (Survivor Series ’96 and WrestleMania 13...

You’re probably wondering why Dean Ambrose hasn’t already cemented his place in the main event picture of WWE.
Since Seth Rollins ended The Shield’s stellar run through WWE’s premier roster in June 2014, The Lunatic Fringe has become one of the top babyfaces on the roster. However, as the current Intercontinental Champion, the powers that be at WWE haven’t really seen him as ‘the guy.’ A secondary title is as far as he’s gotten.
With Ambrose, there’s no polarisation like you get with a John Cena or a Roman Reigns – 100% of the WWE Universe love a bit of Da. The men, whatever their age, love his craziness and balls-to-the-wall nature, while the women love his charm and rugged good looks. When you look into the crowd at an arena you’ll always – and I mean always – see a Dean Ambrose sign or fifty.

Roman Reigns defended his newly won title against the former champ Sheamus with Mr. McMahon serving as the special guest referee; of course, WWE stacked the deck against Reigns to give viewers the impression there was a chance he could lose the title, which would therefore lead to a ratings boost.
Ultimately, it paid off: the Raw rating was up from the week prior and the events that transpired during the title match set the stage for what is to come in the Royal Rumble match.
