The production cost £6.5 million to produce with funding being provided by RDF Media, Channel 4 and The Learning Channel.
The cars featured in the series were left stuck in the UK after production had wrapped in 2002 due to legal and British Import reasons. All but 10 were crushed immediately, the lucky ones shown on exhibition at the Beaulieu Motor Museum in 2003 - Feb 2004 and later destroyed after being stored away for some time.
The last episode of the series and the final seconds of the UK DVD, featured Cathy Rogers announcing that future contestants should send in their application forms for "next year". Low ratings for the US transmission in 2002 and then the UK in 2003 resulted in second season plans being dropped.
