- A number of turkey dinners catch fire in the Plaza's kitchen; nobody is hurt, but flames are seen everywhere as Eloise and Leon struggle to put the fire out with a hose. The two main chefs are distraught by the fire.
- A woman has water poured on her from a dumbwaiter (played for comedy).
- A man fears that his son is missing in New York City; this inspires a search party and police cars to show up at the Plaza.
- Eloise leaves her pet turtle under a restaurant table; the turtle is nearly stepped on by a frightened woman, who jumps up and screams in terror, accusing the Plaza of having vermin.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The film deals with the death of Leon's mother; there are a couple of quite emotional scenes where he admits his grief to Eloise, and his loneliness after being sent away by his father.
