Tracy is fun to look at
caspian197816 June 2004
Tracy, who goes under the name Tracy Voyek for this movie, leads a beautiful in this spin off of the Bodyguard. With a small budget and production value, the movie falls on the shoulders of Tracy. The story is weak like most soft-core movies that you find at 2 o'clock in the morning of cinemax and showtime. Still, the eye candy is there and Tracy continues to have a strong career as an actress in her genre. Some of the scenes lose its feel with lack of b-role and amateur editing, but the acting holds up as a number of naked women gives its audience what they want to see. Tracy Voyek ends the movie with a decent love scene with some emotion. You do get a decent amount of fake sex with no true grit, still, Tracy manages to dazzle her audience with moments of beauty and quality appeal.

Tracy is fine, but...
guitarrhcpman1 September 2004
This is a very generic softcore porn movie, as expected. The story was very predictable, but the reason they made this movie was not to have a great storyline, obviously. I admire their attempt, at least. Tracy Ryan, the star of the movie, plays Maxine, some actress who is being stalked. As expected, she gets letters made from newspaper ad lettering saying such things as "You will soon die." The story is somewhat pathetically funny. Fortunately for the movie, Tracy Ryan stars, and she is very fine. However, this is a softcore porn movie, and Tracy barely had any scenes of her "specialty." Secondly, what's the point of watching this movie when she has much better, real movies out there? I recommend checking out some of Tracy's movies where she goes under the name of "Avalon." That's where you'll be getting the good stuff. I give The Seduction of Maxine a 4 out of 10.

Many suspects but an unsatisfying (softcore) B-movie
guisreis4 March 2022
Although the story is far from innovative, and despite the plot is just excuse for showing sex, the script of this softcore thriller was at least able to open the alternatives to different feasible suspects. However, it is a B-film with horrible acting (indeed, famous porn star Tera Patrick has no less acting skills than the rest of the casting). The numerous softcore scenes have also a varied level of success in its quality, both as convincing or not and as mildly exciting or just tedious. The mystery end is quite bad and undeveloped too.

One of the finest softcore films with one of the hottest casts thanks to Tera Patrick and Tracy Ryan.

Rating as a softcore film: A

The basic premise of this picture is lifted straight from the Kevin Costner/Whitney Houston hit The Bodyguard: famous movie star Maxine Strickland (Tracy Ryan) is receiving threatening letters from an obsessed fan, so she hires conflicted tough guy Paul Logan to protect her. Most of the movie is set around her mansion, with the suspects including her butler and maid and her best friend Naomi Grant (Tera Patrick), who's secretly jealous of Maxine's success. No points for guessing the movie doesn't really care about the mystery.

Through and through, SOM is an excellent softcore production. The production values are passable, the lighting is excellent, the soundtrack is pleasing enough, and best of all, the women are breathtakingly gorgeous and the sex scenes are titillating. Taken for what it is, the movie succeeds on virtually all counts.

What's immediately eye-catching is the presence of two of the hottest women around, the blonde Tracy Ryan and half-Asian/half-American Tera Patrick. Tracy's best scenes are mostly near the end, when she has a lesbian encounter with Monique Parent (the least attractive woman in the movie, but not too distracting) and a passionate sex scene with Paul Logan. Tera's best scene is a threesome with the hot maid and the butler. Pity the redhead playing the maid is uncredited, she's incredibly hot, even looking as good as Tera and Tracy on several occasions.

The only thing that really disappoints is the lack of a lesbian scene between Tera and Tracy; here you have two of the hottest women and to simply neglect what could have been a coupling for the ages is completely flabbergasting. I'm not sure who to blame this omission on; even though I'm aware Tera Patrick usually doesn't do lesbian scenes, this is softcore and she did have that scene with redhead. So I guess this is the director's fault.

For anyone who actually cares about the plot, no one should have any trouble guessing who the culprit is. I'd say it's the character who serves no other purpose to the story, but then again, the only purpose any major character in this film serves is to bare their skin. Whatever the case, any single scene in the movie is far more satisfying than the whole of The Bodyguard.

In regard to other aspects of the plot, I'd say that any man who would cheat on Tracy Ryan clearly isn't thinking straight, but he's cheating on her with Tera Patrick! I can see why such a temptation would be too hard to resist. It's also easy to see Paul Logan succumbing to Tera's charms (or maybe it's just her looks) even when he has a thing for Tracy.

Seduction of Maxine is definitely one of the best softcore films in memory, ranking alongside other productions like Femalien, Fast Lane to Vegas, Alien Files, and Hidden Beauties. Now if only a movie could combine Tracy Ryan, Tera Patrick, Venesa Talor, Sasha Peralto, Sage Kirkpatrick, and Laurie Wallace, I'd be in softcore heaven.

What a waste of talent; this was pretty bad considering the cast....I give it a C-.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Seduction Of Maxine" was not a great film; in fact, it was a softcore remake of "The Bodyguard" if you ask me.

We start with Maxine Strickland, played by Staci Noel (aka Tracy Ryan, Tracy Angeles, or whatever name she's using). Maxine is a movie star with the wrong people around her--Riley (Kyle Kleefield), an agent who really doesn't care about her, and Naomi Grant (played by Tera Patrick; yes, the pornstar Tera Patrick), her personal assistant who's just waiting for Maxine to stumble so she can become the next big thing. Riley's been intentionally negotiating an impossible deal for Maxine so the studio she works for will drop her, so he can introduce Naomi as his "new star".

On the set of her current movie, Maxine gets a letter with cut-out individual letters like the ones usually seen on a ransom note. Someone's threatening to kill her. Riley thinks it's a good idea for her to get a bodyguard, therefore Jack comes into the picture. Jack is a former governor's bodyguard who gets shot while protecting the governor from an assassination attempt. He now works as a private bodyguard-for-hire. Sound familiar?

Jack wants things done his way, but Maxine doesn't want to cooperate, saying that she doesn't need a bodyguard and he's only interfering in her personal life. Meanwhile, Naomi is busy seducing both Riley and Jack, but she also has time for a threeway with the hired help.

Finally, about 20 minutes before the movie ends, Maxine's childhood friend Leah (my favorite B-movie babe Monique Parent, using the name Scarlet Johansing and sporting spikey blonde hair) pops by for a visit. Keep in mind that the stalker hasn't been found yet. Leah stays just long enough for a little girl-girl fun with Maxine. "I love you, Maxine," Leah says in a more-than-just-friends tone.

The ending is.....well, unexpected, but not in a good way. The stalker walks into the bedroom where Maxine is sleeping and tries to suffocate her with a pillow. Jack comes to the rescue and stops the masked culprit. Who is it? Spoilers imminent, consider this a warning.

Leah is the stalker! She wants Maxine dead because she loves her so much! She gives this short, passionate speech about how Maxine has changed since she became a movie star, but she always loved her. What? She's only been in the movie 20 minutes. She's the stalker? I thought it was someone hired by Naomi, or Riley, or maybe the butler did it (couldn't resist that one). This ending made absolutely no sense. Usually the person behind something like this is seen throughout the movie, not called up 2/3 of the way through and shows up 20 minutes before the movie ends. Yes, it's a softcore flick, but it's still a movie, which means it requires a meaningful ending. It's not tapeworthy, but it was nice seeing Tera Patrick doing a bit more acting than I'm used to seeing her do. If you're watching this movie to see her, you're better off with one of her hardcore films instead.

Women: A (Tracy....no, I mean Staci was her usual "I'm so innocent" self, Monique was okay for the short time she was there, the maid was pretty nice, and Tera Patrick was simply amazing. She can be dressed in a paper bag and still look sexy. I'm thinking of Tera Patrick and Flower in a movie....I'd pay to see that.)

Sex: B- (I like that they let Tera do the more daring stuff, like the threeway in the middle of the movie. It was the usual bump-and-grind stuff, with some moaning thrown in for good measure. Not spectacular, but better than average.)

Story: D (Not only did this film rip off "The Bodyguard" but the ending was terrible. In these whodunit-type films, it's usually someone very close to the action but no one suspects is the stalker/killer. Leah isn't even mentioned until over an hour into the film, and 20 minutes later she's confessing. Just terrible.)

Overall: C- (This film deserves a D+, but Tera Patrick was all over the place in her naked glory, so I'll be lenient here. With some more performances like this, Tracy Ryan may go in my Cinemax 2nd 10 List. She was decent in her role as the lead actress. She reminds me of Amy Lindsay--in a lot of films using many different names, but puts on at least C to C+ performances in every one of them. Skip "The Seduction Of Maxine"; if you must watch it, turn it off after Leah and Maxine have their sex scene--it goes downhill from there pretty quick.)

GOOD Skinemax movie
gallon200225 April 2003
This is one of Cinemax's best late night movies. The love scenes are much longer than the average, and the ladies are very attractive. The plot wasn't that great, but the action made up for it. Tera Patrick made the movie for me. Two thumbs up

Tera saved this one - well kinda
ShaneLords26 June 2003
Let's make this short and sweet. This flick had the cast, plot and potential to be great. It should have been a home run. What went wrong is simple. Most of the sex scenes were just shot poorly. If you have the talents of Tracy Ryan, Tera Patrick, and Monique Parent available for filming then you better be shooting the best camera angles to show off those talents. Tera had one saving scene. The scene that should have stole the movie - with Monique and Tracy in a lesbian frenzy - was so poorly shot that it was hard to tell they were making love. I gave this flick a 2.5 out of 5.
