This movie is in the same class of Lan Feng Zheng (Blue Kite) made a year earlier in 1993, and Huozhe (to Live) made in the same year. Unlike the latter two which met the unfortunate fate of being banned in China, this movie actually succeeded in avoiding the same fate, and this mere survival is truly amazing.
Although politically in the same class with the other two movie mentioned here, the artistic talents of the film crew is obviously not in the same class of the other two, and perhaps it is exactly because of this the movie was saved from being banned.
