Warning: Spoilers
1. Yuji Nagata Vs. Ultimo Dragon - Yuji cleanly won, wow 7/10

2. Gedo Vs. Chris Jericho - heh one of the greatest Jericho's face pop after victory. And I don't get why they replayed that bad screwed Frankensteiner by Jericho 7/10

3. WCW World Cruiserweight Title Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. Vs. Champ-Eddie Guerrero - I like Eddies haircut in late 1997 Long Bangs combed on the side. Btw: Impossible match! Ftw Mysterio's DDT from moonsault from the top rope, somersault flip into flying headscissors! This match was one of the best I've seen, not only in 1997. 10/10

4. Steve McMichael Vs. Alex Wright - In this match Goldberg debuted on PPV and assaulted Mongo. 6/10

5. WCW Television Title Match: Champ-Disco Inferno Vs. Jacquelyn (came in Norman Smiley's 2nd theme music) - No way, she defeated Disco, hate that booking. 4/10

6. Curt Hennig Vs. Ric Flair - It is so clear that Hennig wouldn't win, when He was champ at the time and it was non-title match. DQ ending 7/10

7. Lex Luger Vs. Scot Hall - Larry Zbyszko was referee. 6/10

8. Macho Man Randy Savage Vs. Diamond Dallas Page - Another Variaton on DDP Vs. Macho feud - variation Death match and another Savage victory it's become boring, over and over again 6/10

9. Cage Match: Stiff 1 (Piper) Vs. Stiff 2 (Hogan) - Words are meanless. But there were some moment fan, that climbed the cage and Hogan with Piper beat the hell out of him. 5/10

Halloween Havoc 1997 Thoughts

Halloween Havoc 1997 was the 9th annual Halloween Havoc PPV event produced by WCW. It took place on August 26, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Attendence was at 12,457 and is notable for being 7th highest paid PPV in WCW history with a buyrate of 405,000 but at the time was the record for WCW. It is stated in an interview, Eric Bischoff from this Halloween Havoc would see it as important as Starrcade and would make sure the biggest feuds would have history of this event. While seeing a match and clips of the show in my life, this was my first full view of the entire show.

Match card would have it's biggest feud of Roddy Piper once more in battle against his long-time rival Hollywood Hogan. While Hogan was on his rebuilding career of drawing numbers as a huge heel with an Unstoppable stable, arguably the feuds and matches were still a question which I will get to later. This event also is notable for having one of the best matches in WCW history and of pro wrestling in the 90s.

The Good - What obviously comes in most minds when they think of this show was the amazing match for the Cruiserweight Championship between Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio. It might possibly be the greatest matchup respectively in each others careers. Both were outstanding and communicating telepathically so well. The spots kept the crowd awake and the story of Mask vs Title was great. The sudden death match was also quite a enjoyable match. Savage & DDP had great chemistry in a brutal brawl. The opening matches were also good despite one not originally being advertise with a brutal botch.

The Meh - Flair vs Hennig was really getting interesting but the ending really took a brutal beating to the match. Anything with a DQ or count out can hurt a match honestly. Lex Luger vs. Scott Hall was decent with a lot of weird stuff happening all over the place. It made no sense for Larry Zbyszko to be ref when he wasn't present in this feud before.

The Bad - The main event was such a mess. There was no info of how the rules of this cage match would go. Much to the confusion was when the ref approached in the ring when he was spending majority of the time on the outside till mid match as it seemed this was an escape the cage victory match. Botch fest moments with the most infamous of Randy Savage jumping from the cage with both stars not in position which caused Roddy to break kayfabe for concerns of Savage. The match was awful. Worst match of the night would go with Disco vs. Jacqueline which wasn't really anything important. We also had an awkward Lackluster match with Alex Wright & Steve McMichael where timing was not on paste with an interference from Goldberg happening.

Overall - If not for the 5 star match this show might have been just an average show to look back on. But hey, that's what a 5 star match can do. Boost a show in a big way. The Sudden death match between DDP/Savage was also fun enough to save what look to be "nothing else going right" after a spectacular match from earlier. Overall this show was pretty fun and not bad at all.

Score - 7 out of 10: Good

0 = Terrible : 1 = Bad/Lackluster : 2 = Decent : 3 = Good : 4 = Awesome : 5 = One of the Best of all Time

1. Huji Nagata vs. Ultimo Dragon - 3/5

2. Gedo vs. Chris Jericho - 3/5

3. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.: WCW Cruiserweight Championship (Mask vs. Title) - 5/5

4. Alex Wright vs. Steve McMichael - 1.5/5

5. Disco Inferno vs. Jacqueline - 0/5

6. Curt Hennig vs. Ric Flair: WCW United States Heavyweight Championship - 2.5/5

7. Lex Luger vs. Scott Hall - 2/5

8. Randy Savage vs. Diamond Dallas Page (Sudden Death Match) - 4/5

9. Roddy Piper vs. Hollywood Hogan: WCW World Heavyweight Championship (Steel Cage) - 1/5

Best Match - Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio

Worst Match - Disco Inferno vs. Jacqueline

Most Memorable Moment - The botch from the top of the cage of Savage. (Sadly it's an infamous moment you can't forget)

Top 5 Performers

1. Rey Mysterio - Outstanding Performance

2. Eddie Guerrero - Outstanding Performance

3. Diamond Dallas Page - Great Performance

4. Randy Savage - Great Performance (if you don't count the botch

5. Ultimo Dragon - At the time an underrated performer.

Age In The Cage

Warning: Spoilers
Steel Cage Match (non-title): WCW Champion Hollywood Hogan vs. Roddy Piper, WCW United States Title: Curt Hennig vs. Ric Flair, WCW Cruiserweight Title (Belt vs. Mask Match): Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Misterio Jr., Sudden Death Match: Randy Savage vs. Dallas Page, Scott Hall vs. Lex Luger (special referee Larry Zbysko), Disco Inferno vs. Jacqueline, Chris Jericho vs. Gedo, Yuji Nagata vs. Ultimo Dragon, Alex Wright vs. Steve McMichael

The match card looks good but this PPV wasn't. The steel cage had so much stuff wrong with it. Non-title and the two contender's were well passed retirement age. Ironically Age In The Cage was a slogan used by WWE who wanted people to watch there show instead of Halloween Havoc and here we are almost 10 years later with WWE using the exact same participants, who are even older. Hennig and Flair was god awful also, as was Wright/McMichael, Savage/Page and Hall/Luger. Below are my top 3 matches and worst 3 matches.

Worst: 1. Piper - Hogan 2. Disco Inferno - Jacqueline 3. Savage - Page

The ones that are not in the Best 3 list were terrible also.

Best: 1. Nagata - Dragon 2. Jericho - Gedo 3. Guerrero - Mysterio.

I have given this a four only because of the matches above.
