Featured review
Worth seeing if you adore very early animation...but it doesn't stack up well with cartoons from just a few years later.
Actually, this film is NOT exactly the one mentioned in the other review--that one is "Pa Sees Some New Styles". Both fall under the umbrella term "Keeping Up With the Joneses" and are done by the same pioneering animator for Gaumont. And, both are very, very similar.
The film begins in a fashion not too uncommon in early cartoons. You see a live hand begin to draw the background and characters and you slowly see them come to life. After that, you see some old style (but nice) black & white drawings having their silly little adventures--none of which are particularly interesting. Still, for fans of very early animation, it's well worth seeing--though most others will be bored by it as cartoons have improved and changed so much over the last century.
