Serviceable substitute

Warning: Spoilers
There are two major problems with this British version of Fear Factor: 1) the host's constant insipid, obvious comments (if I hear "What's going through your head?" one more freaking time....), 2) the flawed format that often allows the weakest team to win by having only their strongest member compete in the crucial final stunt! (which effectively turns the competition individual, which would be fine, except it's supposedly all about "team effort"). So the show is definitely inferior to the American version, but it's still enjoyable for the Fear Factor fanatic (like me) who has watched every American episode and just can't get enough. ** out of 4.

Scarier than the US version

These guys and gals from the UK seemed more like real-life people than the primped-up, pumped-out US version. I didn't notice obvious breast or calf implants, or fake eyelashes or weaves, and yeah, I was kinda looking, because I remember watching the US show with Joe Rogan, and wondering how many of them popped a fake boobie, or worse yet, became future influencers and insta models. In this UK version, the tasks seemed really REALLY difficult! In the 4th episode, they were "buried at sea" in the shark-infested cold Atlantic ocean with their hands tied and weighted boots on their feet! 5 out of 6 of them failed. I can't imagine doing that task - especially for £3000! But it's all about conquering your fears, and all the contestants - whether they failed or succeeded- really faced amazingly creative and seemingly diabolical challenges! Good for them. This show aired over 20 years ago, and yet this ENTIRE series has one review! Ignore the crappy rating, and watch it. Just ignore the host - he's only annoying for the first couple of episode and picks up his enthusiasm in episode 3. 😉
