She makes her escape by jumping fifteen feet from a window and three months afterward meets the nephew and marries him, when the nephew brings his wife home, the valet recognizes her, threatens her with exposure and succeeds in blackmailing her. Her life is made unbearable until she ends the colonel's diary, which tells of the former attempts upon his life.
