Lena Dunham walked back her defense of former “Girls” executive producer and writer Murray Miller, who was accused Friday of raping actress Aurora Perrineau in 2012 when she was 17. Dunham apologized Saturday for not supporting Perrineau, saying she was “absolutely wrong” for accusing her of submitting a false report. “Every woman who comes forward deserves to be heard, fully and completely, and our relationship to the accused should not be part of the calculation anyone makes when examining her case,” Dunham tweeted. Rachel Platten is proving there’s more to her music than just her inspirational hits.
The pop singer-songwriter is gearing up to release her new album, and People has an exclusive first listen of her new song, “Collide,” inspired by her husband, Kevin Lazan, whom she married in 2012.
“‘Collide’ is about not wanting to hide yourself and being super comfortable with the person that you’re with — so comfortable that you want to leave the lights on,” Platten, 36, tells People. “I wrote it on a day when I was feeling extra into my husband and how he makes me feel perfect in my skin.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Rick and Morty” Season 3, Episode 7, “The Ricklantis Mixup.”]
If anyone was afraid that the end of “Twin Peaks” signaled the disappearance of insane Sunday night TV storytelling, the kind that makes you scream into the living room void shouting “What Just Happened” with the pure intensity of a person reckoning with their own hallucinations, let me tell you about a little half hour of television called “The Ricklantis Mixup.” The ideal animated complement to Lynch’s “Part 8,” it’s a wry, impossible-to-fully-digest bit of mythologizing that builds up a multiverse worth of individual story threads before lighting them as the fuse to explode the story’s own premise. This is “Rick and Morty” at the height of its power, delivering zaniness and gut-punch existentialism with equal fury and glee.

Conspiracy talk-show host Alex Jones is such a dangerous cartoon that even parodies on TV series like “The X-Files” and “Homeland” can’t capture his lunacy.
The characters on those shows feature some depth, and offer more anger (they at least got that part right) than outright madness. Compare that to the Jones we see barking into the microphone on “Info Wars.” This week, the question of whether or not Jones is actually playing a frothing-at-the-mouth, tinfoil-hat salesman became a centerpiece of the host’s child custody dispute.
“I’m concerned that he is engaged in felonious behavior, threatening a member of Congress,” said ex-wife Kelly Jones at a pretrial hearing, referencing a profanity-laced recent rant about Rep. Adam Schiff. “He broadcasts from home. The children are there, watching him broadcast.” However, according to Jones’ attorney, Randall Wilhite, “He’s playing a character,” Wilhite told the court. “He is a performance artist.

Maybe it's because we're only two episodes back but Blindspot Season 2 Episode 11 feels more like it's taking accounting for another episode than a full episode itself.
"Droll Autumn, Unmutual Lord" is a slow starter that doesn't pick up until its second half and seems like its primary function is to make Jane and Weller reassess their families. Or to make us hate basketball.
The core concept of forcing the FBI to work with the CIA was played out before, and better, in Blindspot Season 1. Not to take anything away from Chad Donella, who plays Keaton, but he'll forever be Jacob Clarke from the miniseries, Taken.
Even when he's trying to be bad it's peanuts compared to what Michael Gaston did as Tom Carter.
Keaton's an annoyance; Carter was someone you full-on loathed. So asking Jane and company to work with Keaton's CIA is more of an irritation than particularly tense,...

The Harry Potter series contains a lot of different kinds of stories. There’s the coming-of-age stuff where a boy is thrust into a world he doesn’t fully understand, traditional good-versus-evil bits, and even a little high school drama for color. One thing it didn’t have, though, was a story about blue-collar men and women in New Jersey sweating it out on the streets of a runaway American dream and riding through the mansions of glory in suicide machines—but apparently the movies almost did. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Bruce Springsteen recently confirmed to BBC Radio 2 that he wrote a song for a Harry Potter film that never got used.

An often spectacular drama, American History X left its maker shunned by Hollywood. Ryan looks at a great film and its maverick director.
It should have been a proud moment for British director Tony Kaye. His first feature, American History X, had finally appeared in Us cinemas on the 30th October 1998, and was already earning deserved attention for the strength of its direction and its powerful performances - not least from Edward Norton, cast in the lead as a volcanically angry young neo-Nazi in Venice, California.
American History X might have marked the next phase in Kaye's career, which, like such directors as Ridley Scott and Alan Parker before him, had begun in advertising back in the 1980s. And yet post-production on the movie had been protracted and difficult, as Kaye engaged in an increasingly public battle for its final cut. That battle had become so heated,...

It's hard to believe that it has been thirty years since Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern embarked on a journey to find the dead body of a local boy. What sounded like a morbid adventure actually resulted in one of the most touching films about friendship to ever grace the screen. The chemistry of the four young actors, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Wil Wheaton and Jerry O'Connell, was undeniable--these boys really felt like best friends, and the film is still the best example of male bonding that we've ever seen.
We can thank writer Stephen King for that, as the horror novelist wrote the short story "The Body" that inspired Rob Reiner's film. King has stated that Stand By Me is the best adaptation ever made of his work, and we'd have to agree.

Corey Feldman has a lot to be thankful for on his 45th birthday. The former child star, who turned 45 on Saturday, recently released a new double-album titled Angelic 2 the Core, which had been in the works for over a decade. "I feel very grateful and very lucky to be alive still, to have any kind of semblance of normal life," he tells the AP. "I am blessed to have a beautiful child, a beautiful home, a beautiful girlfriend and a beautiful career ... I don't take any of it for granted." This is the fifth album Feldman has released under his recording moniker,...

Even though she's portraying one of the most prolific tennis stars in history in her upcoming movie Battle of the Sexes, Emma Stone isn't shy about admitting her lack of tennis skills. Speaking at Logo's Trailblazer Honors, where Billie Jean King was being recognized for her service to the Lgbt community, Stone, who is portraying King in Sexes and introduced her at the event, recalled an ill-fated game of tennis she played with King. "When I began preparing for the role, Billie invited me to play some tennis," Stone, 27 told the audience. "Let me be clear about something, I was a complete novice,...

During the ad breaks as the Panthers played the Broncos, a clutch of new film trailers were unveiled for this summer’s blockbusters. Stand by for explosions
Eddie the Eagle is likely the smallest film to get a Super Bowl spot this year. It’s therefore fitting that the trailer for the feel-good sports comedy starring Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton of Kingsman: The Secret Service, takes an admirably low-key and heartfelt approach by featuring a trip of famous NFL athletes (Kurt Warner, Russell Wilson and Drew Brees) praising the film’s depiction of athletic life, instead of showcasing Jackman in action. Inspired by true events, Eddie the Eagle centers on Michael ‘Eddie’ Edwards (Egerton), a British ski-jumper who made an improbable and historic showing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics; Jackman plays Eddie’s coach. Think of it as this year’s equivalent to Cool Runnings, with less fish-out-of-water laughs,...

What does a proper Christian wife do? Stand by her whiny husband even though he wants to go to heaven to escape her, of course.
Click here for the ongoing ranking of 2015’s films for female representation.
Note: This is not a “review” of 90 Minutes in Heaven! It is simply an examination of how well or how poorly it represents women. (A movie that represents women well can still be a terrible film; a movie that represents women poorly can still be a great film.) Read my review of 90 Minutes in Heaven.

One year ago I wrote an Open Letter to the Men of India to describe what it was like growing up as a woman in India. The letter went viral within 24 hours. My phone rang non-stop, while it was trending on Fb and Twitter. TV stations camped outside my home in Bandra.
My family was upset that I had dragged them into this media frenzy. I was asked to leave my parents house (and then taken back).
BBC worldwide covered it. Every website and paper in India carried it, it was bigger than anything I had ever done – MTV, my films, nothing compared to this… The letter was bigger than me.
I was accused of orchestrating a publicity stunt. My character was attacked and my choice of films (i.e. Delhi Belly) were called into question.
People took sides on social media and in real life. I...

In this post Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nomination world that we’re now living in, I think it’s a very apt time to update Academy Award predictions. In fact, I believe that anyone not in need of a prediction update needs to seriously take a look at themselves in the mirror. Either you’re some kind of prognostication savant and have been right all along (which I highly doubt), or you’re just ignoring the facts. I’ve spent all week tinkering, with the last hour or so being when I’ve really put my nose to the grindstone and tried to figure out what Oscar might do. Who knows if I’m any closer to being right, but at least now I have some material to look at in terms of these educated guesses. What you’ll probably notice below, besides a facelift given to a...

Fantastic Fest, the country's biggest genre film festival, has drawn to a close, ending one glorious week of monsters, thrills, aliens and general cinematic mayhem. Taking home audience awards were "Blue Ruin" director Jeremy Saulnier's thriller "Green Room," starring Patrick Stewart, Hungarian fantasy-romance "Liza the Fox-Fairy," and an homage to VHS in the form of Ross Sutherland's experimental documentary "Stand By For Tape Backup". The absence in the awards of high-visibility films like "The Martian" and "The Lobster" is a testament to the fact that Fantastic Fest remains dedicated to showcasing underground and emerging talent to genre purists. Isn’t Chris Pratt just the coolest? Not only does he play a hero in the all new Jurassic World, he also jumped up to catch a falling speaker at the Los Angeles press conference for the film, protecting a journalist. Check out some of the fun conversation as Pratt tells us about his close call with a moose, and his approach to the character of Owen. Also, make sure you scroll to the end. I’ve included some photos that I took of all the fun decorations and toys they had set up for us to look at!

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a little girl in possession of a good imagination must be in want of a heroine. At least, this was the truth of my childhood. Like many people of my generation, my early pop culture intake was a healthy mix of Disney (this included an extensive library of worn-out VHS in the classic white plastic clamshell packaging), Saturday morning cartoons (from DuckTales to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Japanese imports repackaged for North American kids (Power Rangers, Speed Racer). But my one true love was science fiction. And anyone familiar with my work on this website could probably guess that this love begins and ends with Star Wars. Or really, it begins with Princess Leia.
I don’t remember my first viewing of the original trilogy; it exists in my memory as a constant presence. And like any healthy child weaned on TV and movies,...

Katy Perry is finally copping to that cryptic Mean Girls tweet she sent out that everyone assumed was about Taylor Swift. Turns out, everyone was right.
Back in September, the pop star tweeted: "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing..."

This tweet seemed to be in reaction to Swift's comments made to Rolling Stone magazine about a fellow female singer that, though she didn't identify, she claimed had done her wrong. "For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," Swift, 25, said. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life...

Is Miley Cyrus throwing shade at Kim Kardashian with her latest selfie?
Snapping a close-up shot of her lips and cleavage, Miley's latest Instagram pic greatly resembles the cover for the Keeping Up with the Kardashian star's selfie photo book, Selfish.

That being said, the 22-year-old entertainer made no mention of Kim when she posted her sexy selfie. "Do yiew tink if I push muah titties up I'll get mo followahhhzzzz?" she wrote, adding the hashtags and handles: "#shouldigrowmyhairout? #koomkoomquah @derrellbullock @twinkleswinkle @adamleber @anderssonjj @chelseahandler @baddiewinkle"
While it's unclear if Miley was taking aim at Kim, she did make a quick quip about her own transformation in another Instagram post on Wednesday. Sharing an image from her Hannah Montana days next to a current selfie, the "Wrecking Ball" singer wrote: "Who the? What the?"
