Go big, or go home.
That’s the attitude of The Walking Dead season 8’s premiere, “Mercy,” which has now been billed as the show’s “most ambitious episode” yet. How fitting, given that it’s set to be remembered as the big 100.
Word comes by way of ComicBook.com. After detailing the title and official synopsis of “Mercy,” along with the “incredibly propulsive” episode set to arrive on October 22nd, Cb recently caught up with Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer on The Walking Dead, to discuss what next month’s instalment has in store and how its debut will leave a lasting impact on the remainder of the season.
“It is the most ambitious episode we have ever done. There will be elements shot during succeeding episodes. It’s that big.”

Unsurprisingly, when the weather gets colder, you're going to need a jacket to keep warm. What kind of overcoat you select is completely up to you, but we have a suggestion: faux fur. We know what you're thinking: Can I pull it off? The thought of a fuzzy all-over jacket might seem a tad dramatic, but choosing the right one can make all the difference. For starters, make sure it fits. Faux fur jackets are bulky by design, but that doesn't mean they can't have a flattering fit. And did we mention: Go big when it comes to color. From electric blue to bold animal prints, no look is too loud. For the best of the best, keep scrolling! See: Cozy and chic! We love...

Box OfficeNot everyone needs to jump into a blockbuster.
You could say that Free Fire is a box office flop, but I wouldn’t. The first Ben Wheatley movie to hit American suburbs in its opening weekend is an achievement of exposure in spite of what it actually grossed. Sure, its estimated $1m debut is only a third of what Variety claimed it was on track to make, and for a movie reportedly budgeted somewhere between $7m and $10m, that’s a low start. Its per-screen average is not even in the four digits. But, hey, it’s Wheatley’s biggest opening yet, and that’s the right track.
At a time when many decent smalltime filmmakers are being snatched up for ginormous projects immediately after receiving some indie-sized acclaim, it’s great to see guys like Wheatley and Nacho Vigalondo take gradual steps upward. Vigalondo’s latest, the $15m-budgeted monster movie Colossal has also grossed just...

Ever since I first met Denzel Washington on the set of Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X,” I’ve felt comfortable with him. Maybe it’s because he and my mother grew up in the same working-class New York suburb, Mount Vernon. Fact is, I grew up in the film industry with Washington, along with Mel Gibson, Debra Winger, Bruce Willis, Kevin Costner, and John Travolta; we’re all close to the same age.
I know the way he swings his tall body into that loping, cocky walk. And it’s fun to watch him, in the green room at the Writers Guild, enthusiastically wave his hands around when he talks about directing. He’s in a good mood: His August Wilson film adaptation of “Fences” has been enthusiastically received, by critics, audiences and — perhaps most crucially for its Oscar chances — actors, landing the coveted SAG Ensemble nomination.

DirecTV Now’s $35 a month price for 100+ channels — which some analysts thought was too good, or foolish, to be true — soon will be history. At&T says that on January 9 the introductory offer will expire, and the streaming service’s “Go Big” package will cost $60. “Any current DirecTV Now customers, and those who sign up before the promotion ends, will stay at the special price of $35” as long as they keep the package “subject only to future reasonable programming price…...

To compete with the rising amount of streaming services (aka the future of TV), At&T in March announced DirecTV Now, an on-demand and live broadcast streaming service comparable to PlayStation Vue, which we wrote about recently, and Sling TV.
To kick off the service, At&T will be offering its $60 a month "Go Big" package (100+ channels) at $35, with the huge benefit that you will be locked in at that price for as long as you use the service. Sweetening the deal even more, if you prepay for three months of the "Go Big" package in advance you get an Apple TV for Free. (Insert joke about my name here.)
DirecTV Now will be available on Chrome Cast, iOS, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Amazon Fire Stick, and obviously Apple TV. The service doesn't launch until November 30th, but you can go to their website to be notified the instant they launch.

Don’t call it a “skinny bundle.”
As At&T prepares to launch its over-the-top DirecTV Now offering on Wednesday, the company is taking pains to differentiate itself from rivals such as Sling, Playstation Vue and Hulu’s upcoming live TV service.
As an introductory price, DirecTV Now will offer more than 100 channels (its “Go Big” package) at $35 a month, and charter members will be grandfathered into that price for a period of time.
“The challenge with skinny bundles is your skinny is different from my skinny which is different from someone else’s skinny,” says Brad Bentley, executive vice president of marketing for At&T Entertainment Group.

But it’s unclear how long that $35 offer will last, and when DirecTV Now will revert to that “Go Big” package’s normal $60 price tag. The service’s normal $35 offering (“Live a Little”) carries 60 channels.

CBS's "Survivor: Cambodia" -- aka Season 31, aka "Second Chance" -- is ending its fantastic run on Wednesday, December 16, with a two-hour finale and one-hour reunion show (where probably only Spencer and maybe two other people will be allowed to speak). At the end of the penultimate episode, Jeff Probst teased that, during the finale, something would happen for the first time in 31 seasons. What is it? We have a guess, but first here's more from Jeff to Entertainment Weekly:
Okay, six players left as we head to the finale/reunion. What can you tell us about both next Wednesday night?
"The finale is ... phenomenal. Historic. Unpredictable. And ultimately satisfying. I think it will cap off, in grand fashion, what most fans will regard as one of — if not The greatest season of Survivor. I have absolutely loved the way this group played. I am proud and impressed by the level...

I was surprised by The Wedding Ringer. Actually, I should clarify that statement: I didn’t hate The Wedding Ringer. Released in the January doldrums, backing Kevin Hart as its headline act and sticking by a title that sounds uncomfortably familiar to that other wedding movie from over a decade ago, not much was weighing in its favor. The movie, while entirely predictable and with the occasional questionably offensive joke, never becomes the broad, pandering slap-stick-a-thon its scant trailers make it out to be. Unfortunately, on the other hand, I’d be hard pressed to argue that anyone walking out of the theater this weekend will remember it come the Spring.
Kevin Hart plays Jimmy Callahan, the self-described wedding ringer, who sells a sort of best-friend-for-hire service to friendless grooms. At varying levels of service, he attends rehearsal dinners, talks up the groom to family, and gives a big, emotional...

“I hope we haven’t gone back to those 40s and 50s biblical films,” Ridley Scott's production manager Arthur Max told Yahoo. “We looked at them and they were useful for what Not to do. The technology was very primitive. The style of acting is very stilted and period-dated.” So, what does that mean? Go big, or go home. Yes, "Exodus: Gods And Kings" is based on the Bible, but the hope is that it's the word of God, mixed with a little contemporary sizzle. “Everyone hears about the pyramids, how amazing they are, but the great pyramid in Giza is only 440 foot high, a 40-story building. Then, it was fantastic, but now we need to pump up the scale a little bit," Max said. “Ridley is trying to romanticise the story he’s telling, rather than a ‘scholastic British museum goes to the Cairo museum’ type of storytelling.

Go big or go small- just avoid the middle ground in Australian film budgets.
That approach is being advocated by some industry executives and producers in response to the global trend which sees many mid-level films being marginalised.

Not two weeks ago, famed auteur and Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro set the internet ablaze when he announced the confirmation of a follow up to his 2013 robots vs. monsters film Pacific Rim and dated Pacific Rim 2 for April 7, 2017. The biggest surprise wasn’t the official announcement of the sequel though, it was the announcement of the comics and animated series that would be produced leading up to 2017: They are using all their weapons at their disposal and are really trying to make this franchise stick. They’re in for a tough time though, as there’s no question it’s never been harder to get an original franchise made in today’s day and age of reboots/sequels of pre-existing properties. But maybe Guillermo Del Toro realizes the tagline of Pacific Rim holds some truth. “To fight monsters we created monsters” – or in this case, “to fight franchises,...

Community’s unofficial motto is “Go big and go deep” and it’s a motto you can see every week it airs a new episode. Season 5, because it only has thirteen episodes to work with, has made it a mission to leave every episode feeling larger than life. Last season, Community ventured into the realms of animation and it was disappointing. It came out of nowhere, only lasted for a hot minute and didn’t feel like it had any importance. This season, with Dan Harmon back in control, the show is going to try animation once again, but this time the entire episode will be animated.

It's like the saying goes: Go big or go back to selling cases of soy milk and laptop cases. Not that you can't still buy beverages and computer accessories at Amazon, because you must certainly can, but hopefully in the near future, you can also see the pilot of Hand of God, a drama starring Ron Perlman as a hard-living man with a sex-worker girlfriend and a disabled son who may or may not be transmitting messages from God. Amazon Studios is also allegedly eying the pilots of the comedy Cosmopolitan, featuring ex-pats in Paris, and Hysteria, a drama about a doctor who returns home to Houston to study a technology-born illness affecting teen girls. Let's just do this, Amazon. Between these shows and Barbarella, this is exactly what we want from you in 2014. When it comes to Ron Perlman, just follow your hearts.

Go big or go home seems to be the Kardashian family motto.Following Kim Kardashian's over-the-top engagement, the family got together for another big celebration: Kendall Jenner's 18th birthday. While she doesn't actually turn 18 until Sunday, the entire clan mark the occasion a couple days early on Tuesday -- by renting out Six Flags Magic Mountain!Though the park was scheduled to be closed for the day, Kendall's fam paid to have it running just for them and they all looked like they were having a blast.Kim, Khloe, Rob, Brody and Brandon were all seen in photos shared by different members of the group -- as well as shots of Kylie's maybe-boyfriend Jaden Smith and a reunion between Kris and Bruce Jenner. Nice to see the two getting along after announcing their separation.Kim even shared a pretty awesome video from their day at the...

Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 25) at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles, chef Gordon Ramsay and a team of young contestants from "MasterChief Junior" attempted to create the world's largest cupcake.
A crowd gathered on a grassy area near the fountain at the center of the upscale retail mecca to see if Ramsay -- who is judging the kids-only version of the competition, along with restaurateur Joe Bastianich and chef Graham Elliot -- and his crew could produce a 3,000-pound confection and make their way into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Unfortunately, when it came time to unveil the big baked good, it was a bust.
"It collapsed in on itself," Ramsay tells Zap2it. "Three thousand pounds, that's a heavyweight. These attempts, sometimes people practice and then fake it. We went for it, and we were open and honest about it. Go big or go home, at the end of the day.

The penultimate season of Sons of Anarchy has exploded onto television in bombastic fashion, featuring a shocking scene derived from the Sandy Hook’s massacre that is sure to split opinions around the world, torture porn (the literal kind), more characters addicted to heroin, and some shots of Charlie Hunnan’s ass to tide women over until 50 Shades of Gray hits theaters. Accounting for all of this and more though, series show runner Kurt Sutter has painted a poetic picture of themes that symbolize all hope, trust, and friendship are gone; something that you can bet will pave the way to a Season full of more betrayal than ever before.
Two weeks have passed since the climactic ending of Season 5 that left Samcro’S Redwood Originals’ friendship in shambles and hanging on by a thread. Jax is lost and still torn between his mother Gemma and...

All told the movies of summer 2013 would have to get an A … for Average. Well, or maybe a B, for Blah. There were a few high points ("Iron Man Three," "The Conjuring," "This Is the End"), a few low points ("The Lone Ranger," "After Earth," "R.I.P.D."), and a whole mess that landed somewhere in-between.
What seemed to really come in abundance, though, in movies of varying degrees of quality, were head-scratching plot points, the things that made you go, "Hmmm … that was f**king stupid."
Yes, they're movies, Stop Picking Apart The Plots And Just Enjoy Yourself, we know. But they've been building up all summer, just simmering inside of us, and if we don't get these off our chest soon we're going to explode like we were named Krypton. It'd be messy, and no one would want to clean that up.
So here are our picks...

Hyperbole hit the roof. But in Hollywood, alarm bells were ringing.

Go big or go extinct!” runs the tagline for the futuristic epic Pacific Rim. It reads awkwardly, like those phrases in fake English that used to embellish Japanese T-shirts and rucksacks. And it doesn’t make sense as advice – look what happened to the dinosaurs. Yet it’s a policy that Hollywood is taking very seriously, as it keeps on cranking out mega-scaled monoliths of action cinema, the studios seeming to regard anything on a more manageable size and budget as a fast ticket to dereliction.
