Two words....must have
JadeYorker101 October 2005
Motown Merry Christmas has been a classic in our family since it originally aired in 1987! I adore it beyond measure! It is certainly a must have for any family that enjoys basking in nostalgia at Christmas time!It would not be long before it becomes a family tradition for you and your loved ones likewise!Just imagine....the Temptations, the Pointer Sisters,Smokey Robinson,Stephanie Mills,Run DMC,Natalie Cole,Desire Coleman,Darlene Love,Ronnie Spector,{if you don't know these two names yet, what a beautiful way to be introduced},Phillip Michael Thomas,Redd Foxx,Lola Falana and many, many more sharing the same stage as well as the same Christmas magic......Phenomenal!!!!This show's magic has never and will never die.I tell you,it just wouldn't be Christmas without Motown Merry Christmas! If I had to sum this show up in two words....must have!!!!

Wonderful! What a treasure!

The first time Motown Merry Christmas aired in 1987, we taped it and it became a family tradition to watch it every Christmas.

I have not seen a Christmas Special since then that can top it! Smokie Robinson, The Temptations, RUN DMC, Redd Foxx, The Pointer Sisters, Stephanie Mills, Natalie Cole, Phillip Michael Thomas...the line up for this show was just unbeatable!

When Stephanie Mills sang "When You Love Someone (It's Christmas Everyday)" my goodness! I got chills!. There is singing, dancing, comedy and most of all Christmas! I can't even describe what a treasure this TV show is!

Unfortunately, our copy of Motown Merry Christmas got taped over and our Christmas just has not been the same since!

If anyone has a copy of this TV show, please contact me.

I would love to have this Christmas tradition once again for me and my family!

We're still talking about it.

I haven't seen Motown Merry Christmas since I was 12 years old. My friends and I are pushing "30" and we're still talking about this show. I must say during the whole hour of watching this show,it was a magical moment probably for most Classic Motown Fans. Songs like "Santa Clause Is Coming To Town",performed by the Pointer Sisters, "Silent Night",performed by The Temptations, along with the others still remain in my head every year. Redd Foxx is still the coolest Santa in the history of Christmas. My favorite moment was when Run DMC performed "Christmas In Hollis". If only our VCR would've been working that night, Motown Merry Christmas would be our family tradition. I'm sure my children would've love it.

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this Motown Special. It's very memorable and I found the VHS this Christmas. If anyone wants a copy of it, I had it transferred to a DVD, just let me know. I saw this when I was six years old, a old family special. It's also the last memory I remember spending with my brother before he died in 88, but it was just true talent for everyone.

The older people enjoyed temptations while we watched Run DMC. Just Good Music! I watched it with my daughter who is now 10, she said they can sing, but she said it's a different type of music. I understand, but explaining to her. This was the history of people who helped paved the wave for your type of music....Willow Smith(whipping her hair)

Fun for the entire family

I was 12 years old when I first saw this TV special. Now that I am 31, I still remember every part of the show. I still sing every one of the Christmas songs the way the stars on the show sang them. If you love the old school Motown flavor, then I know you'll love this special. Hosted by Phillip Michael Thomas of Miami Vice, it's slammed pack with singing sensations. From the Temptations to Run DMC, Redd Foxx to Marsha Warfield. I love the many duets and dancing. If you start off watching the show not in the Christmas mood, by the time it's over you'll be ready to join Santa himself. It's an hour full of entertainment for the entire family, both young and old.
