On my knees stars Melora Creager from the classical cello band Rasputina, and is featured as Hannah Cullwick, a working class female and slave to her husband. This video being only 12 minutes long does still pack a punch. This black and white film takes you back to the Victorian era, taking you on a brief journey through a couple pages from Hannah's journal. Melora plays a painfully shy and silent character where her physical acting must carry the film, putting emotional stress on the viewer because she won't speak when she should. Melora narrates throughout the film telling of her life as a part time wife and maid of all work. She is portrayed as a slave wearing a chain and lock around her neck her husband binds her with, to which only he has the key. It's a sort of sad and melancholy film but there is a hidden beauty. Watch it for yourself and find out.
