New Delhi, Jan 13: An interest in travelling, collecting cars and a passion for adventure may be listed as activities perceived as falling in men's domain, but actress Gul Panag does not agree with these stereotypes and has been disproving them in her own life.
Gul, who has been riding bikes from a very early age, said: "No one ever called me a tomboy. Then or now."
"I don't think riding bikes makes a girl a tomboy. Who decides what girls should do or not do? I'm glad the gender stereotypes are being challenged," Gul, who has been seen in films like "Dhoop" and "Dor", told Ians in an email interaction.

Mumbai, July 1: Gul Panag, mostly seen in off-beat films, feels that the scripts of Hindi movies lack story and structure.
The former Miss India started her acting journey with critically acclaimed off-beat film "Dhoop", based on a true story, and was appreciated for her work in films like "Dor", "Manorama Six Feet Under", and "Turning 30".
The actress, not seen in Hindi movies for a while, launched Atulya Mahajan's book "Amreeka Desi".
When asked whether the book could provide a good plot for a movie, she said: "I don't know because Hindi movies don't normally have good plots."
"I do hope there are people out.

Makers of Jodi Breakers are ecstatic. This unassuming film has been picked up by none less than Yash Raj Films for distribution in overseas market, hence opening wider avenues for it to make its presence felt in a much wider manner.
"The film's promos and songs have done the trick", informs a source, "The film was in news during its making but the floodgates have opened all of a sudden with both talkie as well as song promos catching the eye of the viewer. There was a glimpse of what was in the offering during the First Look release itself but the curiosity has started gaining momentum on a rapid note. Bipasha's namesake item number further ignited good heat for the film."
Resultantly, while audience is waiting to check out what this Ashwini Chaudhary directed film is all about, there is a lot more to look forward to for the...

Bollywood, for long considered a male-centric industry, is no more an alien world for women directors - if the success of Anusha Rizvi.s .Peepli Live. and Rajshree Ojha.s .Aisha. is any indication. Women are confidently going behind the camera to call the shots..It is not about being a woman director but about directing your thoughts. Look at me, I didn.t come with anything (in the industry). It was a challenge to prove yourself. But I actually never had any issues. I faced the usual trouble any director would face,. Ojha told Ians..I had already worked so much in America so the issue for me was understanding how to go about it (in India). But that.s all a part of the industry. It is not gender-centric,. added the one-film old Ojha who idolises Satyajit Ray and Ang Lee.Her .Aisha., a modern-day adaptation of Jane Austen...

New Delhi, Gul Panag says she always wanted to do meaty roles in films, but her Miss India crown often proved to be a stumbling block as many filmmakers thought beauty queens could only sing and dance on screen."My Miss India tag has often been a deterrent for me since I did not take a conventional route to Bollywood and the kind of roles I've done or wish to do are not just about dancing around trees," Gul told Ians on phone from Mumbai. "A lot of times, because of my beauty pageant win, filmmakers thought that I won't be able to carry off an intense role and will be only suitable for singing and dancing. So it was not easy for me," the actress said. Gul began her tryst with Bollywood with offbeat films like "Dhoop" (2003) and "Jurm" (2005), but it was her role as Zeenat in Nagesh ...
