1982’s Tron was a gigantic step forward in visual effects in cinema. The Disney film would take the growing popularity of arcades and capitalize on video games’ unique visual cues by integrating live-action elements with groundbreaking computer-generated effects. The result is being transported to a world unlike any that had been seen before. When 2010’s sequel Tron: Legacy was released, it had the opportunity to expand on the world with more advanced technology. It would also be a product of its time, utilizing both IMAX format and being presented in 3D when the movie journeyed into The Grid.
Cameron Monaghan, who will be starring in the upcoming Tron: Ares with Jared Leto, has recently teased how the new installment will also push forward with visual effects. According to Deadline, Monaghan recently gave an interview with the site, Collider, where he stated, “I think this one, in a very similar way,...

Ultron is one of the most nefarious and tricky foes the Avengers have had to deal with in the pages of Marvel Comics. However, the character was underutilized in his big-screen debut in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. The film’s climax sees the villainous AI disintegrated, leaving little room for Ultron’s return in future MCU projects.

It's been nearly a decade and a half since Disney took us back into the digital world of Tron with the long-awaited, eagerly anticipated sequel "Tron Legacy." Fueled by an unbelievable soundtrack from Daft Punk, the film from "Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski was visually dazzling and offered up some exhilarating action sequences, even if the story left something to be desired. While certain elements of the movie haven't aged very well, such as a digitally, de-aged duplicate of a young Jeff Bridges who now looks like he's in an old video game rather than a blockbuster movie, I think "Tron Legacy" delivers a satisfying sci-fi adventure, and the highs outweigh the lows.
Well, with "Tron 3" reportedly starting production last month, there's no better time to revisit "Tron Legacy" in the form of an incredible new piece of artwork by artist Raid71, on sale today at Bottleneck Gallery.

Telluride Film Festival attendees were treated to an honest-to-goodness crowdpleaser on Friday night at the Werner Herzog Theatre in the form of “Nyad.” The feature directing debut from “Free Solo” Oscar winners Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin had the packed audience literally cheering before its credits rolled, an impressive show of support for the filmmakers and distributor Netflix.
Described by Netflix as the “remarkable true story” of long-distance swimmer, sportscaster, author, and motivational speaker Diana Nyad, the film focuses on Nyad’s many attempts to swim from Cuba to Key West, Florida – a feat she finally accomplished in 2013 at the age of 64. Four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening stars as the prickly and controversial Nyad with two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster playing her steadfast coach, Bonnie Stoll – and the film, adapted from Nyad’s memoir by Julia Cox, gives both actors plenty of strong material with which to work. Needless to say,...

The current career of John Travolta is a bit hard to pin down. For every “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and “In A Valley Of Violence” (opening this fall), there’s something like “Life On The Line.” One can’t blame the actor entirely, as folks like Kate Bosworth and Sharon Stone also signed up, but it’s a bit of a mystery what on the page made “Saw V” David Hackl‘s movie so compelling.

In the new TBS reality series Outback Jack, a group of women must struggle to survive in the Australian wilderness. From the moment they skydive into the country wearing evening gowns, they are clearly strangers in a strange land. Like the ladies of Outback, Turner Broadcasting will find itself in unfamiliar territory during the next few months: original series programming. With its premiere Tuesday, Outback is the first of a batch of new unscripted series coming to TBS, which hasn't launched anything since October. Next month, sister network TNT will unveil an original production from its own budding slate, the six-hour saga The Grid, which marks its first serial project after a two-year blackout. At first blush it might seem a peculiar shift in strategy for a pair of channels at the top of their game. TNT has been the No. 1 network in basic cable for nearly every month in that two-year span, sweeping all major demographics in primetime and total-day ratings in May. TBS is no slouch, either, already seeing a steep ratings uptick after launching a major rebranding effort and adding HBO's Sex and the City to its schedule this month.
