According to the book The Art of 3D: Computer Animation and Effects, the panther woman character, nicknamed Lotta Desire, had a single, continuous skin surface covering her whole body. Her eyes were animated with simulated optical nerves and movable irises. It was one of the first to apply surface division, improving resolution by rendering 5,000 polygons as 20,000 subdivisions. Her expressions were created with internal displacements, instead of morph targets.
