Walt Disney Pictures has recruited Lana Del Rey for the new trailer to the upcoming "Maleficent" and I say, great call! (see the latest teaser/trailer for "Maleficent" trailer)
At first I was like, was that Angelina Jolie singing? And then voila, like a velvety smoky ray of light, I detected the magical, soothing, mysterious voice of Del Rey!
And let me tell 'ya, I can't wait to see this movie! We broke the news of Jolie's participation, oh, back in 2009, when a super-Disney insider revealed to me the plans! Click here to see the original story.
And now, it's almost here! Del Rey's take on the "Sleeping Beauty" classic "Once Upon a Dream" is just, well, haunting, and pure magic!
I can't wait to see the Robert Stromberg-directed movie when it hits theaters on May 30th!
Here's the rest of the cast, and watch the teaser/trailer below:...

I didn’t go to Reading, or Leeds, this year. I haven’t woken this morning in a field. No, I’ve woken this morning surrounded by empty cans wearing pyjama bottoms and a Converge T Shirt. Most painful of all about my not having gone to Reading, or Leeds, most heartachingly painful of all, is that I didn’t see The Cure play a majestic three hour set.
Watching them from the comfort of my bed, attired in the aforementioned, on BBC iPlayer is not the same. Hangover breakfast of champions or not; gammon steak and scrambled egg (I like protein) splashed with mustard and red sauce. Chased of course with a coffee and a cigarette.
However, by way of compensation I have been gifted with something this week. That something is Wild Nothing’s sophomore effort Nocturne. How this is compensation will be made clear soon.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has just announced its list of 2012 inductees, which includes Guns N' Roses, the Beastie Boys, Donovan, Rod Stewart's former band The Faces, singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, blues guitarist Freddie King, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The artists will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 14, which is a perfect time for classic-rock fans to come down to the Cleve to take in the majestic beauty of northeast Ohio in the springtime the fabulous regional cuisine extensive cultural offerings in the downtown area an Indians game. The list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was released a few months ago, and The Cure, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Eric B. and Rakim were among the names who didn't make the cut (which means that somewhere, Robert Smith's maid is desperately trying to [...]...

One defined rock in the 1980s and early 1990s, and the other's biggest hit name-calls the genre. Those might be some reasons why Guns N' Roses and Joan Jett are among the leading nominees for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2012.
In addition to the Axl Rose-led group and the woman who made "I Love Rock 'n Roll" a rallying cry, other first-time nominees who could take the podium at the April 14, 2012, induction ceremony at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, include legendary mope rockers the Cure, sister act Heart, hip-hop icons Eric B. & Rakim, classic vocal group the Spinners, blues giant Freddie King, soul act Rufus with Chaka Khan and 1960s rockers the Small Faces/Faces.

My affinity for Sean Penn as an actor peaked well over a decade ago, fostered by his run of great performances in seemingly every genre from the mid-1980s through the 1990s. I still think he can be great, but so many of his recent roles have just felt like extensions of his less-than-charming public persona -- that of the taciturn, marble-mouthed, know-it-all butthole. So, I desperately wanted this trailer to be patently absurd, as potentially Fubar'd as Sean Penn looks in the header photo, just to see him fail miserably at something whimsiquirkilicious. Schadenfreude is not a pretty thing, but it seems to sustain us as a species. Yet, while Penn is clearly playing against his own type (Milk also being a recent exception), the movie appears to be somewhat more straightforward than his character's hairdo.

Looks like we have a new contendah!!! for the directing chair of Lionsgate’s “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”, their zombified take on the classic Jane Austen tale. The LATimes reports that Neil Marshall, aka the King of Splatter behind “Doomsday”, “The Descent”, and more recently, “Centurion”, is now in the running to direct “Zombies” along with Mike White (“Orange County”). While Marshall and White are the top choices, newcomer Jeffrey Blitz is also in the running, though he looks to be a longshot. Is there really any choice here? You got zombies, you got Brits — give this thing to Marshall and let’s get this sucker in front of the camera already! “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”, Seth Graham-Smithe’s take on what would happen if you tossed some flesh-eating undead into Jane Austen’s perfect little polite British society, was originally supposed to go before the cameras with...

The Exploding Girl -DVD Review
Bradley Rust Gray has made a film that champions life and love the way it happens, unfolds, and dissolves: slowly.
All you really need to know about this film, which stars Zoe Kazan as Ivy, a girl you wish you could have known throughout your own formative years, is that it is really an intimate portrait of a woman who has a boyfriend waiting for at the college she’s currently attending, she is coming home for spring break, and she is connecting with her old friend Al (Mark Rendall).
What happens after these two re-connect after having been away from one another for a while is the basis for what can only be called one of...
