If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if one of the “Rick and Morty” characters placed a call to Joel Osteen’s prayer line, wonder no longer. Justin Roiland, co-creator of the Adult Swim animated series, made an appearance on the H3 podcast this week to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey. During the podcast episode, Roiland called the televangelist’s hotline, using the voice of Rick, the soused time-traveler character from “Rick and Morty.” This follows Osteen’s Houston-based Lakewood Church getting hit with criticism last week for not initially opening its doors to those displaced by the storms.

Pastor Joel Osteen addressed the backlash he faced during Hurricane Harvey from the one place he knows best: the pulpit.
The celebrity televangelist sparked outrage last weekend when he briefly refused to open the doors of his massive Lakewood Church in Houston to victims fleeing Hurricane Harvey’s deadly rising floodwaters. During the church’s first Sunday service since the storm, the 54-year-old began by clearing his name.

Pastor Joel Osteen, of the Lakewood Church in Texas, is at the center of an elaborate online hoax. Someone created a series of fake websites, all pointing to the idea that Osteen was leaving the megachurch and closing his ministry due to a loss of faith, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Whoever was behind the hoax went so far as to create a fake Twitter account and upload videos to YouTube, all claiming Osteen was leaving his church. In a message labeled an "official statement," the person posing as Osteen says the real issues one should focus on are the destruction of the environment, and genetically-modified foods, among other things.
The hoaxer continues, saying assets are being liquidated, with the majority of Osteen's fortune going to the Salvation Army. The statement also announces a fundraiser for Osteen on April 20. In many places, April 20 is unofficially known as a cannabis culture holiday.

San Antonio -- The American taxpayer may be getting into the movie business.
In a real-life case of drugs and extortion that could itself make a pretty good screenplay, federal prosecutors have forced a Mexican drug trafficker to turn over his stake in a planned prequel to Mel Gibson's 2004 blockbuster "The Passion of the Christ."
If the movie gets made, the U.S. government will receive a cut of the profits.
Some of the big names behind the Hollywood project include megachurch pastor Joel Osteen, who had no idea about the script's unsavory backstory.
"When you get a script, you just don't think to say `Hey, was this script ever tied to a Mexican cartel?'" said Donald Iloff, a spokesman for Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston. The script was already being handled by a legitimate production company when Osteen got involved.

"Sometimes we look at gay being a bigger sin than being proud or not telling the truth," Osteen said. "I don't think God categorizes sins." While he sounded almost reluctant to come out and say it directly to Oprah Winfrey, Osteen did confirm that he sees homosexualty as a sin, based on what he's read in scripture. But his point is, that it isn't necessarily a bigger sin than so many others, and therefore perhaps it shouldn't be emphasized and sensationalized as such.

Houston megachurch leader Joel Osteen will soon be coming to a television near you -- this time as the star of his own reality show.
The preacher and his family have partnered with "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett for a show about Lakewood Church's mission trips, the Associated Press reports. The show, which will focus on "people helping people," is expected to air some time in 2012.
Osteen has reportedly been approached for several reality shows in the past, but this one caught his attention, according to the Houston Chronicle.
"We have great respect for Mark and we know that the finished product will not only entertain but will illustrate the generosity and selflessness that is a hallmark of the American people," Osteen told "Entertainment Tonight".
Don Iloff, Lakewood spokesperson, told the Chronicle that the program will have a feel-good premise similar to that of reality shows such as "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

HollywoodNews.com: Joy Behar really is one of my heroes.
Was watching her on ‘The View’ this morning and she very politely but forcefully talked about homosexuality with Joel Osteen, the telegenic pastor of Lakewood Church who persists in saying being gay is against the Bible – or at least acting on those feelings.
I’ll try and post video of that later.
First, here is last night’s episode of ‘The Joy Behar Show’ on Hln with guest Jesse Tyler Ferguson of ABC’s ‘Modern Family’!
Among the topics they discussed was this: A new study shows that the Emmy winning ‘Modern Family,’ in which Ferugson and Eric Stonestreet play the gay couple Mitchell and Cam and are raising an adopted daughter, is a favorite of Republicans.

Dr. Conrad Murray was a guest at Joel Osteen 's church in Houston, TX this morning -- and we're told the two shared a prayer together. Sources at the Lakewood Church tell TMZ Murray met with Joel and his wife Victoria before Osteen in between the 8:30 and 11:00 Am sermons. We're told they met in a private room for about 10 minutes. Joel's brother Paul was also there, as was Murray's attorney, Ed Chernoff , and friend Jeffrey.
